Fired it up today, leaking coolant, probably from water pump. Going to dig into it and find out for sure tomorrow maybe. Other than that, no leaks and runs smooth.

After a new water pump, and a new pressure bottle cap, its running just as smooth and nice as new...and no leaks and overflows!! Might try it out this afternoon, the back yard is asking for some 4x4 action. New pics will be posted soon...I bet you all can't wait..ha. Next thing on the list is a lockers and gears, but first i think i'll take out the stank carpet and bed line, and fix the seats, or get aftermarket seats. I'll know better when i take it all apart.
Anybody put an aftermarket power/comfort switch in place of the original? Mine is somewhere in the dash (broken).

Took it out for its maiden voyage this afternoon...ran great on the road, went through some mud and a ditch in the back of my property and it chewed through that with ease. Cleaned it up and ready to do some more work on it.
Its got the dana 35 rear--^

looks good. and to think people are arguing that you can't fit 32's on a 3 in. look how much room you have with no trimming! you should go to like a 33.

Looks great! Love the build your working really fast too it seems....
Only comment I have, since you seem to be doing everything " the right way" the first time, I would ditch that coolant pressure bottle do and open system conversion, or at least something to get rid of that bottle. It will be a constant source of frustration. I didn;t want to do a full conversion in my 90 but I am using a dodge status bottle in place of the stock unit. It works great because it has an actual metal radiator cap. And I don't have coolant bottles exploding and pressure caps blowing off and denting my hood anymore.

Its a 4.5 inch lift.
And I do have plans for the open cooling system, wanted to get it going with the stock set up at first, to get the bugs out, and once its running like new i'll do the upgrades so I have some reference to go back to if something doesn't work correctly.

So I started cutting and tacking some metal for my winch bumper, i think its looking pretty good so far. If there were more days in the weekend, it would be done by now.

Its been a while since I've done some work on the old XJ, had to pause everything to get moved into the house I've built. Started working on it again so here's the first pic of the rear bumper and rock rails.
