I'm tearing through your build thread for the fist time and I get to your explanation of Jeepology and such...that line right there lands you in the "decent folk" bucket for me. Solid build so far and I can't wait to get to the end as I go (page 12 or so now I believe)
Really appreciate that man. And page 12... you're in for a roller coaster... And the ride doesn't end here on page 58 either. There's one more loop LOL

Ok so it was page 15 I stopped at last night and I just got to the end after surfing off and on for the day as I finished up some other work...good lord man!
I mean this thing has had more turns and surprises than the last movie I watched...lol
For realz though, you're doing some awesome work both with the Jeep and with your brand. I'm just starting to figure out my "brand" after a year or so of struggle so more power to ya!
Awesome build, and I'll be sure to pick up some merchandise when I've got the spare cash cause it all looks like great stuff.
Got a few of the FINAL (yes I mean it this time... for now) pieces this week. Going to be cutting it close if I want any chance of it being done this month.
Also finally launched some beanies and they are live on the site. IIRC someone was asking about them in here.
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with them too. 27.99 is what they're going for, but just made a promo code for you guys in here - CF10 will save you a few bucks
hey been thinking about this build and have a personal question for you, if you don't mind. With the money that you have into this by now, why is it that you chose an XJ and not say a TJ/LJ?

Just something I've been wondering about.
Easy. I didn't choose an XJ because of the lower price. Nor did I choose the XJ because I think it's the superior wheeler. If my main goal was to build the absolute best performing rig on the trails, short of a buggy or completely hacking up an XJ til there's no more left, then I probably would've built an LJ. The XJ doesn't have a proper frame and is a pain in the *** modifying compared to a Wrangler.
That said, there's just something about the XJ that makes me love it. I mentioned it before, but I've owned roughly 10 of them. For some reason anytime I am behind the wheel of an XJ it makes me feel good. The styling and aesthetic is perfect and spot on to me. Wranglers are a dime a dozen and just don't suit me. And despite the XJ's shortcomings, they are still extremely capable rigs and are great at serving a multipurpose (even though I've strayed from that lol).
I'm not gonna lie, a few times during this build while deciding on the direction to go I thought to myself screw it. I'll sell this and build a rock crawling machine with an LJ. I knew it would ultimately be regretted. Call me crazy, but even if a stock LJ and a stock XJ were the same price, I'm choosing the XJ every single time.
I know when the build is done there are going to be a ton that say "what a waste" or "Why do all that for an xj". But there will be those that also catch the fire. Through Jeepology I've met a ton of people in the XJ community and one of the comments I get the most is from people that never liked the XJ before are now looking to buy their first. Constantly hear from current XJ enthusiasts that the build has inspired them to be meticulous in their work and not cut corners (lets face it, where xjs get the bad rap from) just because it was a cheap rig or because their budget is smaller. I love seeing companies like JCR who are willing to take a 20+ year old XJ or MJ to SEMA. And while it may be a small part, I'd like to think Jeepology and this build also play a role with others in keeping the XJ community alive. I mean I'm going to build it anyways, might as well have fun with it and open the eyes of people who normally wouldn't think twice about them.
Okay that was extremely long winded and probably more than you were looking for when I think my IG bio says it all right here.
Thanks for that reply. Perfect reply. I had a guy that had some XJs and sold them for wranglers cause he was "tired of replacing them". I've had mine for 13years or so and I do love it. I'm only on 33s and will probably not go bigger. I'm locked front and rear and can do most trails at the parks I go to. I don't push it as I do have to drive it home.
