Got the measurements from GoJeep, have to convert it. I like a little play so I made the holes 9/16. I don't remember what size bolts. I searched and found the size used for 1" drop, and got 1/4" (or around 5mm) less. These worked for both the 3/4 and 1/2 drop. For a 1/4 drop I'd probably get even smaller bolts.

Grabbed a couple sections of 2x6 on the way home today! Hopefully they will be attached to Jeep sooner than later.

And 2x6 end caps, too keep it professional looking!

Love the build so far man! Looking good! Question: What lower control arms are those? Are they WJ Control arms?

Thanks a lot. Those are aftermarket LCAs, Rustys. As far as I know they are the only ones that have a bend for tire clearance.

If you're in need of LCA's, just save up the extra cash and get some long arms. You'll end up being happier. That's my plan at least.

I know this is in relply to someone else, but I'll give my input anyway. I did slightly consider doing long arms when I was planning my lift. I opted for short arms for a few reasons.
A) Lift; 3" suits my needs perfectly. I don't anticipate ever going higher so fitting long arms correctly would be tricky at best.
B) Price; seriously, have you priced long arm kits? I had a hard time justifying spending more on the lift than I paid for the Jeep! Used short arms can be found all day, got these very cheap. Plus, higher the lift means higher the price for everything else as well.
C) Install; I don't have a welder so I needed something that can simply be bolted in with close to zero chance of human error, because the errors are strong with me.
D) Ride; it is my understanding that LA kits ride smoother on the street. This is not my DD so this was of little importance to me, and the ride with these SA is plenty comfy for me.
E) Flex; associated with lift from what I gather. I've seen plenty of flex with properly setup short arms and 3" lift. This isn't a competition rig, and hitting maximum points on an RTI ramp was another check on the little importance side.
F) F; for whatever else. Just for the F of it!

Thanks! I lived in Victorville for a few years. Hopefully I'll have my sliders installed in about 3 weeks. Looking forward to hitting BB shortly after, or at least Cleghorn again for more practice.

All valid points, and I very much agree. I just wanted him to weigh his options. Maybe the money isn't an issue. Finding long arms at 3" isn't very easy. I'll be bumping my lift up from 3.5" to 4 or 4.5" here shortly, and Serious Offroad has a beefy LA upgrade, and they told me they'd dial it in for my height if I'm not right at 4.5". Plus, there is no welding involved. Remove old cross member, bolt the new one on, drill a couple holes for additional bolts, dial in the arm lengths and go.

Although I'm not disappointed with my ride, I personally would like it to be as nice as possible because I put 300+ miles on it each week. Not to mention I have stock uppers and lowers, so if I'm gonna upgrade, I decided to go big or go home.

Anyway, I'll stop polluting your build.

Trust me, if a couple of those factors were different (say if I had excessive play money or wheeled hard) I'd totally be rocking long arms right now!!! It just wasnt justifiable for my circumstances:
LOL @ the polluting comment. It's just conversating, I don't mind at all.

You know I'll post pics once they're done!!! A fellow XJ owner local to me offered to weld them for me as long as I supply materials. Can't say no to that. The two 2x6 pieces were $125 from the metal supplier in case anyone was wondering. End caps were free (leftover scrap from work).

Progress!
Took it all the way to the rocker crease, easier to get a straight line!

Those spot welds...they were probably stronger than my welds!

Even an XJ that has lived in SoCal it's whole life can have rust inside the rockers, beware.

Progress

Test fit

My welds. Yes, you can weld sheet metal to 1/4" tube. It's just tricky.

And on there!

Grabbed a couple cans of spray on truck bed liner. Maybe tomorrow I'll coat them. It took 8hrs, and that was with two people. Me and a guy that had done it once before. Overall a pretty smooth job, except for welding upside down trying to do the bottom. No, I won't show my nasty booger welds. Horrible.

Glad you enjoy it. Hopefully some of these pics are helpful, or at least somewhat amusing.
