I just ran across this post while searching for guys running waggy 44's. i've got a set of them in the garage i'm deciding on if i'm going to run them or not.
I'm runnning 36's on the D30/8.25 and havn't had any problems yet. I'm just worried about running a low pinion in the front.
have you decided anything on the cage yet? I don't know if you have seen mine, but here is what i did:

I actually showed your cage to a buddy of mine a few weeks ago. I love how you did the roof adn that's probably exactly how we're going to mine ( not to copy cat you...) but it's slick as ****. I don't like the full "exo look" yet they way you did it allows you to keep the lines of the XJ close to stock with roof top protection too. I love it.
As for the D44's... I was worried like hell that we'd have to rotate the inner C's and fix the caster but after we got it all together, we put it on the alignment rack and I had 3.5 degrees of positive caster with a perfectly straight pinion angle. I couldn't believe it. It's a trailer queen now so I don't care if it had the recommended 4+ degrees or not.. but it still handles fine on the street with no death wobble or bump steer.

yea, i've got my waggy 44's listed for sale but if they don't sell they might end up under mine. I may wait until i can afford to build some 60's though. the problem i have with the 44's is that the rear really isn't an upgrade from a 29 spline 8.25 and the front uses the same size u joints as my 30 (which is usually the first thing to go on a 30 anyways. I'm just trying to figure out what to do. Its actually in the garage right now and i've been designing my long arm system.

21 Spline AW4 with a NP231 out of a TJ that's also 21 spline with a TeraLow 4:1 kit installed as well as the 2LO kit with a Novak Shifter assembly.
Sorry for the delay in response. I've been boating all summer and haven't touched the Jeep since March!

I've come down with the Swine Flu so I've been laid up on the couch for some time. I'm not allowed to go to work or out in public till June 29th...
So last night I installed a Rusty's 2" Add-A-Leaf in my current Rusty's lift kit due to the sagging that occured once I installed my Rockhard 4x4 rear bumper and full size 36" spare.... now the Jeep is level again! woo hoo.
