You guys have never seen pictures of gravestones? With the right photographer they make excellent pictures.

Hi all, I'm new here and pulling up a 2month old thread... hope that's ok.

HeavyMetal,
Do you have any step by step photos showing amount of cutting/pounding to fit the 33's? I'm heading to 33x10.5-15's for my rig, and would like to get as much work done ahead of time as I can.
Thanks, and, desertmetal looks awesome. Love the minimal/no lift and big tires.

having been there most of desert metals life i can answer those questions.

for the front all you need is a simple fender trim with just a little bashing of the inner pinch seam (gotta do it on every xj if you want to run large tires)

for the rear you can get away with cutting up to the pinch welds (NOT OVER THEM) then cutting a few slits in the metal and folding them up. you may have some slight rubbing in the back, but thats what bumpstops are for (and to keep your leafs from inverting)

Does taking off the front fender and the rear bumper give u enought room 4 33s or did u have 2 roll them.

If you mean the plastic flares, they either need removed, or, put back on after nearly every trail excursion.
I will be rolling the rear if for no other reason than to match the ‘trim’ up front. In my situation, I'll be more concerned about interference with the top of the shock tower up front, and inner wheel well interference out back... but that is due to me running stock wheels.
I believe wheel backspacing/offset/width is going to be the determining factor in how much and where trimming/pounding need take place.

I'll make a couple comments regarding my situation once the tires go on, and I hit a ramp... prior trail running.

Good luck.

As nice as Heavy's ride appears to be turning out, I wouldn't mind if he parked next to my tombstone.
