all leaf springs have some sort of liner or abrasion pad at the tips of the individual leafs, as well as in the middle. This is to prevent metal on metal contact and allow the springs to flex up and down with the vehicle. I took it a step further with full length "pads" (aka liners) so I wouldn't have to drill new holes in the leafs. Drilling through spring steel is extremely difficult.

I've heard of greasing too, but that's mainly muscle/drag car guys that do that. It's not really suited for a DD or off-road vehicle since grease acts like a magnet for dirt. I am using the slip-plate coating for a greaseless slippery surface in addition to the liners since it will not hold onto the dirt

 

Someone mentioned a low-friction paint (rattle can) that works well on leafs, just can't remember who or where it was.

Like the build! I'm a month into my first Jeep and I'm gettin' lots of good ideas... mine is still bone-stock.

Way ahead of you - I picked this up about a month ago and have 3 coats applied to the leafs:

 

Oh haha that makes perfect sense another question, what do you use for the paint? and would I be able to paint my coils the same way?

 

I've been using either Rustoleum Professional (General Purpose/Toughness), Engine Enamel (Underhood), or VHT Caliper Paint (quick dry - quick reassembly)

Coils I used the Rustoleum Pro in hopes it will hold up under the spring action

I've been trying to come up with the same thing!
My 2000 has that different bezel, with the relocated side marker.. I'm trying to use short pieces of threaded rod, with some sprayed PVC across the light. I was having trouble trying to run vertical pieces as well, since the front indicator is so close below the headlamp. But screw it.. looks fine without! Haha.

yea it's just 3/16" smooth steel rod with speed clips on each end
