So today was not a good day as far as the XJ...

I drove it to work and back, had to bring my fiance to talk to a florist about our wedding and as soon as i turned the truck off the upper radiator hose blew off the jeep and fluid went everywhere...

A big thanks gos out to alienoutlaw89 for giving me a hand getting water back into her and trying to get back on my way...

Unfortunately I only drove for about 3 miles before the following happened...

I started hearing a tapping sound as the temp rose... finally at about 230 degrees the truck stalled out. What I don't understand is that I had smoke coming from either behind or under the valve cover. Not sure what it is but the oil was checked and I have no water in the oil, the pressure is fine but she wont stop overheating...

I think my thermostat is stuck closed but not sure...

Any Ideas guys?

So I got alot of stuff to the jeep done this weekend... Parts as follows...

-Oil Sending Unit
-Coolant Temp Sensor
-Thermostat and gasket
-Electric fan
-Shroud for mechanical fan
-Flushed my coolant
-New speakers all around
-Sanded, Painted and installed my new fender flares and bumper
-Took the aftermarket guages out and installed a guage cluster out of a 99' TJ

Heres some pics from this weekend...

So finally figured out the overheating issue on saturday... between nasty coolant, a nasty thermostat, not having my coolant temp sensor hooked up because of the aftermarket guages not telling the electric fan to kick on, the electric fan not working anyway and not having a shroud on my mechanical fan were all reasons why it got so damn hot. Now after all those issues have been resolved and she has fresh coolant she is running a cool 190F with the a/c on.

The bad part is at one oint I had my engine at 250F... But she still runs like a champ.

Thank You Baby Jesus.

Well I couldn't get anything done today due to the rain but I have plans for the weekend that include:

New rotors and pads up front
oil change
exhaust

But for now I'll just do some 12 oz. curls to strengthen me up to get that seized oil filter off tomorrow!

Didn't get to the exhaust this weekend but did get my oil changed. Turns out my oil was very black and smelled slightly like fuel so I'm going to look into the injectors next weekend, maybe just go ahead and upgrade to the 703's and new o-rings.

Also realized my tranny cooler was flopping around everywhere and one of the hoses began to leak.

After taking her all apart and re-tightening everything I topped her off and shes good to go. While I was at it I figured I would paint my grille and headlight housings.

I really need to get deep into my exhaust pretty soon. I must have a massive crack or cracks in my headers... It's loud and I can smell fumes in the engine bay and in the cab at a red light. I really don't have a lot of money to spend at this point but I want to do a new complete exhaust. Also want to start looking into 4:10 gears and lockers.

If you guys know any good deals out there let me know!

Subscribed...Awesome XJ! Love how its sitting with stock fender flares--it looks like at one point the front had pre-97 style flares on. Any plans to cut them?

I see it's been awhile since any updates, anything new going on with Cliff?

EDIT: Nice bronco! I also was a Ford guy, but got tired of dealing with all the rust. I do miss my Ranger already though, which I traded for my XJ.
