Heres my jeep the day i bought it i didnt like it because i was a 2in buget boost and didnt really make to much sense to leave it there.. so im putting a 4-5in lift on:thumbup1:
Attachment 28419

now comes the lift i have longer then i thought ome nitrochargers already on which saves alot of time and money. i put shackles in the back to pump it up alil. took out the rear sway bar. did a skyjacker tcase drop. adj control arms and track bar from rc. sb links from zone offroad. and springs from a buddy.

heres the 2in height in the rear and now hears the lift with 30in tires.. from center of my hub to fender was 23 inches which correlates to 5 inches rite?

havent really had any problems at all yet. till i got to the tcase drop. i was told to loosen the motor mounts a half turn so i did. took the stock cross member bolts out lowered it about 2 inches and squeezed the blocks in. one side went in great. the other not so much. it was off so i had to force it and i didnt like that. but i got it all in and now got stuck on how the bracket is going to fit.

tcase drop
Attachment 28424

linkage bracket.. the rod that goes from one side to the other doesnt move so idont know how to get the bracket between everything..

on to the front were im having all my problems.. first took out the front sway bar and links for now had to heat up the drivers side link but it came rite out with my impact. unbolted the shocks. and tried lowering the axle all the way down so i could put out the springs. nothing the springs decompressed and wont even budge. so that is were i sit with that i may be stoping by work to borrow a spring compressor. track bar isnt coming out.. the cotterpin on the unibody is so rusty that it breaks off.. and we cant fit a box wrench around it. wont come off the axle either.. pb blaster(we named it please be faster) heat and impact arnt doing anything. i let it sit overnite so maybe hopefully the pb penetrates the bolts. but im stuck. heres some pics ill give an update soon. hopefully im done by tonite.

old nasty links
Attachment 28428
sway bar out for now. and need a gear puller or something to push the bolt through
Attachment 28429
annoying track bar. axle side

and the rustyy castle nut and cotterpin for the unibody side.

now its time to work!

kellan_musseau 10-24-2010 08:40 AM

Throw some wingnuts on the ubolt tire holder to make it easier on yourself.. nice jeep

Well im finally done! Track Bar came off with and IR 8000rpm impact so after that it was smooth moving! Heres the Track Bar..

Bottom bolt we had to break.. but when i went to get a new one no one has a metric hardened bolt long enough so i had to go with standard and it just isnt going to do it.. sorta loose....
Attachment 28743
my impact wasnt enough to take of the bracket so the IR was nice to borrow..
Attachment 28742
after that we used an air chisel and tried cutting the bolt.. it only spread it open and allowed us to slowly spin it off with a air hammer and punch. this is how bad it was....
Attachment 28745
the left overs..

the springs were a pain. the guy that i bought mine off of yanked my chain gave me the wrong springs. so i went to bds suspension and 3 days later i had 4.5 in lift coils with a 5/8 dia. wire there like 30 pounds a peice..
Attachment 28746
these things are sorta scary.. i would advise people when using these to be extra careful. but made the job very easy
Attachment 28747
springs in pretty much done. just a feel things to bolt in

well since then its all just been minor stuff. still need to get that tcase bracket in and someone said lower the tcase and try to slide the tcase sideways till the bracket goes in. but im done for the week im tried of driving a kia sorento everywere that has a necklace and an Eeyore in the window.. doesnt look to good.

before.. ill try to get a new pic in this spot
Attachment 28751
after :)
Attachment 28749
baby tires look funny..

shadowlm15 10-29-2010 09:41 AM

next on my list is to make some quick disconnets. was gonna just drill through the bolt. but i mite go to tsc and get there hitch pins and put those in there. probably a better idea not to drill the bolt. anyone know a place to get a metric hardened bolt for the axle side of the track bar???

jonjon99xj 10-29-2010 09:51 AM

where did you get the info how the length between center hug and top of flare for lift results?

shadowlm15 10-29-2010 09:58 AM

well heres a thread.. i mite have to try the other techniques too and see what i come up with.

Having flatter springs is only good to a point, but if they are too flat they will invert and hurt the springs.

You need to have the shackle angle pointed backwards at a 45 degree angle to allow the shackle to move up and down freely with the axle.

The way it is sitting now you probably don't have a lot of down travel and the uptravel is being limited becasue the leaf is forcing the shackle backwards instead of it rotating up.

Here is my xj. I have longer leafs and custom shackle boxes to make the shackle angle proper.

This is the best pic I have of them at "ride height" but you should get the picture

Full droop and I am being limited about 3" because of my shocks.

I agree..angle hangers the other way.....rubbing with 32's?? where and when? I am running 36's on 4.5in lift. With proper bump stops, you shouldn't rub....or you can trim the hell out of it like i did! lol looks good though...clean!

btw....a cherokee forum window banner would be better than the BFG one! lol

shadowlm15 11-29-2010 11:03 AM

Well the way i have my shackles set up rite now is i have the longer ones hanging off of the stock ones. So i get the flex from those and the lift from the other longer ones..

Six-Pack Smile 11-29-2010 11:13 AM

wow your rear shackel set up is fubar your angle is messed up

Six-Pack Smile 11-29-2010 11:14 AM

never mind its already been talked about lol

So you are using too different shackles? That is a really bad idea.

He did not listen to anyones advice and it ended up breaking just like people predicted.

shadowlm15 11-29-2010 03:01 PM

k well i wont be stubborn then. if i take out the stock shackles and then just put on the longer ones i have will i still have enough lift.. i have 2.5" spings then the stock shackles and the new ones on the stock shackle then the spring on the first hole of 3.. the holes are about an inch apart. think i will get the right amount of lift still? if not im gonna be s10 bastard packing it. ill post pics tonite.

IMHO your Jeep looks great the way it is. I think cutting the fenders on your Jeep would really take away from the looks.

Well thank you. I took them off today, didnt like it and threw them back on... maybe i could make some flat one out of diamond plate?? Just cut long strips then bend them to the curve of the well.. then on the in side make folds and bolt them into the existing holes.. idk im always thinking of ideas.
