project broken tools
I acquired a '98 Jeep Cherokee classic for $500 with a lift kit in a parts jeep of similar kind. The lift was a 6" and after much consideration, I decided to sell that and go a tad smaller, a 4.5" Rough Country lift.
I started this project a few months ago, when I replaced the rockers. I began the lift project two night ago and have broken entirely too many ratchets!! First I broke a Snap-On 2.5' ratcheting breaker bar trying to get the lug nut off. Then I broke a Craftsman 1/2" drive ratchet attempting to remove the axel nut. wtf.
Clearly, I'll be on my way to Sear's tomorrow after work for more tools and Mr. Snap-On will fix my ratchet.
Pictures to come!!

Good luck I broke ,an impact socket, impact gun, a half dozen 13mm sockets, a 3 ton jack, (which I used the handle for more leverage on a breaker bar) and a tank of propane. Gotta love salt belt rigs. Oh and PB blaster. Looking forward to some pics.

got to work on the cherokee some last nigth. i got a few things done but started off by breaking another ratchet . but the one of my coworkers who is helping with the jeep let me use his snap on battery impact gun . whoever invented that should be given a medal or something because it solved all of my tool problems as of now. but i got new axle axle joints in both front hubs changed and all of the suspension out of the right side and the new parts in. hopefully tomorrow i will get the rest of the front lift done and the tranfer case drop in then i just have to focus on the rear. hopefully i wont break anymore tool in the process but everything is guaranteed so its ok just as long as it doesnt hold me its ok . ive got pictures of everything that ive done so far i just need to get them of my phone and on to my computer.

I would think a battery powered impact gun doesn't nearly have the torque of an air impact gun am I right? Does that battery powered one actually do some good work?

Well the lift has been done for about a week and it's awesome . Hopefully my new track bar and pitman arm will be here tomorrow . For my next project I'm either thinking of building a roof rack or painting it. Anyone have any ideas

Looks pretty sweet.
Sucks about the Ratchets, I was in that same spot. Broke my NEW Snap-on 3/8's drive. After a TON of research, I ended up just buying the Craftsman 1/2" drive impact from sears. 19.2 volts and with the regular battery it does 200 ft/lbs of torque, It has ripped every single bolt out that I have encountered on my jeep.
When I took the tube bumper off at the junkyard, I broke every single bolt on that damn thing with the ratchet. Went to sears, got the impact. Went home and every one of my bolts came out without braking on mine. I absolutely LOVE my cordless impact.
I am not setup to run an air-compressor, and frankly for my garage and what I do, that stuff is old news.

Yesterday it was kind of slow at work so I pulled the jeep in and got the new pitman arm and adjustable track bar on both cane from rough country . They went on fairly easy . Once they were done I gave it a half assed allinment until I can get one done . But now I think I need a steering box it has a lot of freeplay in the steering wheel . Has anyone else had a similar problem to this ? I hope someone can help me out I don't really want to change the box
