I've been spending too much time (and too many $$) tracking down parts. I had a few items damaged in shipping (the piston set and the oil pump) and am held up waiting for those.

I had the crankshaft washed and ground/polished (0.010" undersize) by Western Engine Supply here in Denver. It's sitting in my basement, now, waiting for me to scrub it in a bath of mineral spirits. I need to find a tub large enough and then I'll get it brushed up:

I also got the valve cover and timing cover cleaned up and painted. The timing cover
is New Ford Grey; the same color that will be used on the block.

On Tuesday, I took the block up to AMS and having it baked, bored (0.040"), lightly decked, and new cam bearings installed. Once that's done, we'll move at a much quicker pace.
I am getting there, parts wise. I have a few more parts coming but once I get the block back from the machine shop, should be able to get this thing put together. If you're wondering, this is my 5th engine overhaul. My track record includes a GM 3.8V6, Nissan VG30ET, Austin 1200, SAAB B234 and now this Jeep 242 4.0L. If you ever do this, double your original estimate and then add a month to the timeline. There are always parts which you end up needing or wanting to replace that you didn't consider at the start.

Thanks! I'm waiting for the remaining engine parts to arrive and the machining to be completed. When that is done, I can get the new engine built and the old one pulled out. Once she's running right and I get her registered, I'll start work on the floorboards & paint. After that, it'll be brake repair, steering overhaul, suspension and upgrades.

Nice Jeep love goin there. I have had my 93 for 12 years and retired it from daily driving end of last year with 262K so now I am going to take the reconditioning road on it like you are since there is no rush.
