I'm not the best at pics so hang in there lol
Got a dana 60 from mid 70's j20 and front axle from 79-80 j10 (clarify that year later) gonna start the loa front end after or while I get the rear axle prepped for instal, gearing it to 4:56 and yes daily driver so not gonna go to quick but it'll work One ton Xj build-image.jpg

got some pictures off my phone, been slow the last couple days since i had to work and not being home much i cant get anything done. buying a welder this weekend and hopefully getting my secondary vehicle back so i can afford to do this swap right the first time! meaning i can have my jeep apart and still get around. going loa front, have done a lot of research about this and figured right now its all i can afford, will do 4/3 link later on though. found out my dana 60 is geared 3:72 so thats good, will work for now until re-gearing to 4:56. dont know about front, will find out when i rip out the axle.

so heres the story with the donor truck, 1980 jeep j10, absolutely no wiring in it at all, rusted out gas tank and no floor boards, almost 7 inch body lift and its got cancer, rust is everywere. picture doesnt do it justice. anyways, my friend bought it from my boss and parked it at my house to work on it then ended up not buying it. so here it sat. the axle i bought from my boss is passenger drop, not driver drop like the j10, so we worked out a deal and i get this axle and give him his pd axle back. so anyways, trying to get the axle out i broke the jack, apperently these trucks are heany tanks! i love j10 and j20 jeeps and beleive me if i could fix her up i would ditch the xj and go for this one, but its not worth it.

parts are clean of grease and oil just rusty, need to wire wheel it all down, maybe get some new brake shoes but doing all of this on a budget so saving as much as i can. the guy put all of these parts in a tub without a top outside and it rusted pretty much everything so not much is salvagable

knocking studs out of said hub

some pics went missing, but they mated up perfectly and now im installing the disc onto the hub, i got the studs in deep enough to stay but i need to go use a press to finish pushing them through. after this, i got to clean off the brake with a lathe or wire wheel or something but its pretty smooth under the rust. then one more to go and i will have to weld on brake caliper mounts!!

last of the drum brake stuff off, almost.

so a new plan for the front end, im going to be doing a linked suspension set up instead of leaf set up, done some research and learned about it and figured might as well do it right the first time, so saving up and buying a link here and a rod end there and ill buy the expensive stuff first to start getting all the things out of the way then make it all at once, will be doing a long arm style setup and if my budget allows me too ill put in some ballistic air shocks, wish me luck!

Good call on links instead of leafs up front. But ditch the air shocks idea for sure. Those don't belong anywhere on a cherokee. Decent looking chop so far
