Wow dude... hope your luck turns around. Do you think someone changed the vin plate on the camaro somewhere along the way?

Nah, it's like trying to get a build sheet for a Renix XJ. GM switched to a new system for the last two years of third gen Camaro production, and they were focused on the upcoming model at that point.

-----
Anyway:

Got the YJ back last night. Motor without a hole in it: Yay!

Bad alt. Battery died en route to work this morning. Put in a new alt, and she purrs.

In the afternoon, I removed the carpeting from the rear (fronts are long gone) because the sub box is molding away and the carpet wasn't helping.

Then I replaced the dummy light oil pressure sender in the new motor with a real one. I knew I wasn't at 100psi on startup!

Then my sub cut out on my test drive. Ended up removing the 12s to fix a bare wire. I realized I don't want my woofers in direct contact with the metal floor, so I set out to craft a solution.

I finally found a use for my coil spacers!

It won't move because it's sandwiched between the bench and tailgate. As an added bonus, water won't pool up under it, AND it now sits level with the bench. It didn't sit level with anything before and looked entirely out of place.

Now... Onward! To the gas station!

EDIT: Holy hell, THIS is what two 12s should sound like! I'd always thought there were two 8s back there.

Edited again for pics.

Thanks, bud. Based on my work schedule, I'll be absent until next month.

Had a few things to tighten up after she came back:
Alternator went out
Trans fluid bleeding like a severed artery
Low oil

She's been running smooth, though. Just took off the seat covers today. Stock seats aren't in bad shape, they wrap around much better without the covers, and I get to show off my rare Sahara seats. Best of all, the seats don't smell like mildew!

The covers were in such bad shape inside that half the foam stayed attached to the seats. Between that and the masses of dirt and bugs left on the seats, I had to bust out the compressed air.

Looking good now, though. They grew on me quickly.

And here are a couple poser shots from the other day:
