not really a build...
so, like many others on this site, i'm new to the jeep world... i'm not new to 4 wheeling by any means, but I finally bought my first jeep after many years of putting it on the backburner.
I needed something to take the whole family with, so obviously, the XJ was the way to go. I bought her in March as stock as stock gets... 2001 Cherokee Sport with 127,000 miles on her.
Well, i wheeled her a little here and there, but the tires had ZERO tread and the clearance was... zilch.
SO, first things first... wheels, tires and lift. This is my DD so I didn't want to go too extreme. I went with a 3.5" RE lift that I put on and 31x10.5x15 Mickey Thompson Baja MTX's
Way better on the trails... new worries were being able to open my doors with all the wheelin' i was doing. So I had a friend of a friend fabricate some rock sliders for me. Worth every penny as they have been abused and do awesome on the trails.
All was good for awhile... and I quickly realized... I need a way to get outta trouble. I'm always the one getting stuck. My RE lift didn't come with brake lines, so I ordered 2 new extended brake lines and finally was able to take my front sway bar off. What a difference, way more articulation and grabbing capabilities.
I was feeling very confident now, and had way more fun than previous trips and finally was able to get around without getting stuck. It was time for a winch! I had my same friend who built the sliders fabricate a bumper up for my new winch.
I'm almost done with her now... at least as my daily driver. I still want to get a locker for the front and that will be it until retire her as my daily driver.
