Default New to the Jeep world

I recently purchased a 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0, auto tranny with stock suspension. First thing I did was replaced the front wheel bearing housings, rear axle bearings along with new 3.55 ring and pinion, carrier bearings and pinion bearings, and all u-joints. Now for the question. I would like to lift my GC slightly, add 1.5" wheel spacers and run no larger that 30's on it, just to improve the looks and capability in the off chance that I do take it offroad and into some mud. Nothing serious just light duty stuff. I have looked into a simple 2-3" budget lift with some new shocks for the added height. Will I have to put on new brake lines? Will I need to lengthen any steering components etc.?
