cool bro, I hope you don't drive around without those side strength ends on??
that would be iffy at best.
You need them for strength.

I didn't have those 15/32 and 25/32 drill bits so i didnt do those side braces on the crossmember. But besides that I finished today got the pilot holes drilled for them, tough little unibody. Looks great man can't wait to see it finished besides the alignment im all but done I love it. Drove around in it for hours today.

Having said that, I like high pinion axles better because you have more clearance and the driveline angles will be better.

No actually low pinions are stronger. With the pinion at the lower end of the ring gear, it tends to be pulled into the ring gear for a more solid bite. With high pinions, the pinion gear tends to be pushed away from the ring gear.

It's not really that much of a loss in strength that you need to worry about for our application. The main people that use low pinion type axles are drag racers, because they put an enormous amount of power and torque straight into the carrier.

i saw the idea on here i want sure how well it was gonna work but after having mine in water even with the hood and in mud that was pretty deep i had no mud or anything else in that jam wich keeps the hinges from sounding like sand paper rubing together. was the best mod i have done thus far

thanks for the feedback everyone.
The pool noodle idea is great!
the info on the D30 is great.
I have a LP D30 with 3:55 gears and my plan was to buy a HPD30 with 4:10 gears when I am ready.
I was thinking I could keep the axle shafts as spares will they be the same?
Well I mean I would keep the whole axle as a spare pretty much.
The windsheild lights where made by rock lizard and the company is no longer in buisness, but other people make some that mount to the hood I think?
not that hard, just fab some up I can take close up pics for you and measure them.
take it easy
