Quote: Here's how I just mounted my ballast and where everything's at, and now it seems like they just go out whenever they want lol.
When I had HIDs, I mounted my pass ballast near the battery and that one kept turning off because it would keep overheating.

Everything worked great when I moved the ballasts to where the horns are mounted. So well that my 55w ballasts blew out my 4300k bulbs... Lmao.

For some reason everyone who I've run across that installed hids in a 97+ xj has had problems. They just don't accept them well for some reason. I would steer clear of hids but that's just my opinion. They aren't worth the hassle, and they aren't very "heavy duty" either.

Gotta disagree with you on this my man. Simply because I have had no problems with the 4 sets of HIDs I've owned in different vehicles- first set was in an 01 f150 on 37s, 2nd set was in a BMW 328i, 3rd set in my 96 xj and the current set is in my 97 xj. I wheeled my F150 hard along with my jeeps. The HIDs have been fine. Now when installing the HIDs on my 97 the only "problem" I had was a blown fuze and removing the "courtesy lights" resistor under the steering wheel. In case y'all were wondering the courtesy lights come in some XJs 97 and newer I believe and they basically stay on after you shut off your jeep and turn off the lights, they stay on for like 30 seconds then shut off. Obviously that won't work with the HIDs and will cause problems. Simply unplug the resistor and you're good. I actually explained it in detail in this thread.

Also, the fact that I pay $39 for a set with lifetime warranty, it's too good of a deal. The visibility ****s on halogen headlights plus I think HIDs look sick on lifted vehicles. I would only get the 6k or the 8k versions though. Anything above 8k you lose visibility and it looks dumb cuz they're like royal blue. Mine are white with a hint of "ice" blue when they're heated up. And the visibility is outstanding

I'm gonna have to agree with you. i've never had a problem with them even when they were on my dad's avalanche and ram. they did fine in the mud and water. his were a little bulkier than mine because they were water proof. the key is buying a brand that is good. not all expensive brands a good, but also not all cheap brands are bad. like i said earlier, VVME is one of the best brands out there and they are around $50 for a set. my dad's were only $70 a set. and the replacement bulbs were only 20 for a set (he hit something and it broke the foglight housing and bulb)
