My new project - 97 XJ
The HIDs are super easy guys. Ever since I had my first set on my 01 F150 on 37s I've gotta have them cuz you can see 1000x better with HIDs. For the XJ you gotta buy halogen conversion replacement headlights cuz XJs have sealed beam headlights which inables you from simply swapping out the bulbs. I am running Hella H4 conv kit and love em. Here's a link to them

I pay $39 a set for my HIDs and that includes ballasts. I don't have the ballasts mounted or anything they just kinda fell into place and don't move lol. I have had no problems with them. I don't have any upgraded wiring harnesses or anything like that. Any more questions lemme know.

What K are you running? I have 8Ks and love em. Anything over 8k you lose visibility. 6-8k are the optimum for visibility otherwise 10k and up are too blue and it's hard to see. Plus they look ricey. My 8ks are ice blueish. With the LED light bar it compliments them perfect. Here's a night shot but pictures don't do it justice as we all know

Either way it's a hell of a lot better than standard OEM headlights

How much were those housings and where did u get them. Also it could be a bad ballast on yours I have lifetime warranty on my HIDs so if anything goes wrong *knock on wood* I can easily replace em
Also, both of mine go out at the same time sometimes and when one goes out I turn my headlights off (one still stays on when I turn the headlights off) and flip the hi beams on (then it goes off) ad turn the headlights back on they work again for a little bit

sounds like it may be your ballasts. you got warranty on them?
any balast should work at long as it's the same wattage. either 35 or 55 depending on the system you have. most likely it's 35watt. also i've always used VVME in all of my cars and never had a problem. there are a lot of auctions for them on ebay, just find the cheapest and you're good to go. the set i had in my protege was in there for 4 years and never had a problem with them, never even had a bulb go out. same with the ones from my VW. had them on for 2 years with no problems.
