The top of the front plate is welded to the flat 1/4" winch mount plate that fills the gap from the tube to the grill. then the 3 tubes in front support the overhang.

It's be two weeks since he posted. I'd guess it's a full tube buggy on built 60's by now.
Edit: It's been two weeks since you post and we post at the exact same time...

While not quite done in those photos, the brackets mount along frame rails like the stock ones, along with being tied into the 1/4" plate across the front.

No real progress that can be seen.
Just welding up some areas that were not completely finished
(wanted to get some pics up and was out of time)
and just taking it out.. I don't want it to be down for the summer,
so it will be fall / winter before I do anything like long arms, coil
conversion, axles, etc..

Perfect timing, lol
I wish.. The AC in my house went out, got a vacation this month, and 2 birthdays that seem to be taking all my cash right now. All the work I am doing is just small stuff that don't change the look, but I am still working here and there on it.
Once the season is over I will go deeper into the XJ
Right now I am gathering parts and converting my Roadrunner over to rear disk brakes.

i'm sick of checking this everyday to find nothing new so i decided to sub for two reasons
1) i won't have to check anymore (i'm lazy)
2) hopefully my reply (and any that follow) will be motivational to the OP

lol Seems like he has all the motivation he needs.
In 3 months he's done almost as much to his Jeep as I have to mine in 7 years.
and I like his bumper better than mine.
