Default My Latest XJ Build... Soon to become a Chuggy?

To see a few of my past builds, check out my intro thread HERE

Anyway, I traded in my last XJ towards my new Mustang and lately my son has been asking to go to the beach/ 4 wheeling, so it was time to find a new Jeep.

I picked up this 2 weeks ago on Craigslist for 1200

cleaned it up a bit while I was waiting for parts to arrive

Then my parts arrived this week. I got a set of 6.5 springs, but ended up putting on a 4.5 lift instead. I am thinking of cutting the body off this fall and going full tube buggy and I don't want it up too high.. So anyway, 4.5 lift, cut fenders, 35" KM2s.. Getting there.. I wanted to build a bumper like I did on my last XJ (in intro thread) but I hate to waste my time if I would be cutting it off to turn this into a buggy in a few months... ahhhh decisions. Anyway, it's looking a bit better now

Looks good!

I like the KM2s. Got a set in 33x10.5 for myself.

Worked on the Jeep a bit today, doors are gone, roof is gone, added some 2x4 rockers, and started my cage.. Still got a long way to go on the cage, but I ran out of time for today. Getting there.

Still not done, but getting closer..added some turn signals to the front, new tails, more tube, vented hood, like I said, still more tube, gussets, etc to go, and then it's long arms and coil conversion.. Never ends, lol

You don't waste any time do ya?

You've had this thing for how long? A month?

You should send these picture to the previous owner and ask them to identify it.

I'm diggin the grille and bumper like that. Ya think you could incorporate a winch?

5 weeks now, lol.

Yes I believe I left enough room to mount a winch on there.
at least I hope I did lol

I assume the winch is going on top of the bumper?

Got some closer pictures of the bumpers design? I am having a hard time picturing how the brackets would mount with the bumper sitting up high.
