My First XJ Build
This is my first XJ, well first Jeep actually. I had honestly never really liked the cherokees until i was out at the wishbone ranch here in bowling green & saw how much of a beating they could take.
So I decided I wanted an XJ and 2 days later, my explorer was sold and a beat up 91 4x4 XJ was sitting in my driveway.
For some reason, it has 5 leaf springs in the back on one side & 4 leaf springs with a block on the other side. It's also missing some body pieces (corner light, fender flare, rear wiper, side mirror, etc.). Here are pics from the day I bought it about a month ago.
I am now making a new front bumper & rocker guards/nerf bars.
Front bumper is 1/4" angle iron & the nerf bars are 2" OD 1/4" thick steel tubes.

well i guess no one's interested lol. got the bumper welded up, painted, and put on today & one pair of lights wired. I'll put pics up later.
Theres a big 3 day weekend at wishbone ranch starting tomorrow, hopefully i can get my TSL's put on in the morning. otherwise i'll be stuck with the 31" bridgestone dueler apt's that are on it now.
And in case anyone is wondering, I have $20.50 in the front bumper & rocker bars. Gonna pull all the suspension out as soon as i get a little $$ (working cash jobs now, so income is slow) and throw some F150 coils, a bastard pack, & chevy truck drop shackles on.

nice rig dude! i love '91s.....got 2 of them right now i'm slowly building
but for my $.02 i would avoid the F150 coils....they are mad stiff....check out Rusty's for their 3"HD coils....they are only like $100 and with the higher spring rate they will probably net you a little more unless you have a heavy *** bumper and winch.....and i like the bastard pack idea....did an XJ/XJ bastard pack on my '96 and gave me about 2.5"....an S1o pack will get you up to 4" depending on how you stack them

rusty's actually has 4.5" springs on sale for $130 shipped. but i dont have the money for them.
I dont get why people complain about f150 stiffness. i ride a hardtail motorcycle & a sports car that has the stiffest coilovers available. my friend has f150 springs on his xj and i dont think the ride is very bad at all

i hear ya man.....i was just making sure you knew that they arent any RE super-ride springs lol....i like a stiff ride and if i got higher than 2-3" on my '91 trail rig i might do the F150 coils if i find some dirt cheap
