My first xj.
I finally got an upgrade from my 93 Honda civic hoop-d, to a 2000 beautiful dark blue Jeep Cherokee sport 4x4 with Dana 30 and 8.25 and 112k on the clock. This is my first time owning a xj after lusting for years. My intentions on this build are daily driver and weekend warrior/ bug out vehicle. So reliability and decent off-road ability are key. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Bugs and issues:
-rear hatch shocks worn out
-rear hatch panel has arch cut into it? Will get picture soon.
-passenger window switches don't work (short?)
-center console latch busted
-check engine light on, its a tranny safety switch of some sort?
-only one good tire haha
-slight idle surge (a surge of like 200rpm)
Modifications since buying 2 weeks ago:
-new wiper blades
-new battery
-Kenwood head unit
-Pioneer 6.5" speakers all around
Next on agenda :
-3" lift kit
-control arms
-steering stabilizer
-sye
-transfer case drop kit
-31" mud tires

the window switches have a common problem. it might be the lock/unlock window switch on your driver door panel. theirs a few write ups about how to "bypass" the lock. but theirs a good one that i used, ill look for it and post a link. it showed how to take the switch apart and clean it and 2 of the soilder points might need to be resoildered. it was super easy. from taking the door panel off to putting it back on took me maybe 30-45 mins at most.

You won't need a SYE for 3" of lift if even a t case drop... Get Aftermarket lower control arms with your lift... If your NSS is bad then you'll have starting problems and no reverse lights
they wanted like 250 for my NSS at autozone and auto parts plus around me. i got one on ebay for 45 bucks NEW not refurb. i compared the quality and it was exactly the same as the one i had taken off! ill post a link to that also

I did look up the codes, just can't remember them at the moment. I'll get that this weekend. Thanks for the heads up on not needing an sye. I haven't had any issues with starting yet. My cousin said he will help with my window problem this weekend.
I'll be purchasing my lift in about a month.

I agree, a T Case drop should be fine for a 3" lift with the 8.25. SYE is to much $$$ with the new driveshaft and all. nice looking jeep I like the navy blue!
