Default My first jeep, Im lovin it.

Hey guys, Im new pretty new to jeeps but so far I love mine. Its a 1990 Cherokee Limited? 4.0L Auto power everything its a really nice rig so far. ALLL STOCK haha for now. I have some big plans for it in the future its def gonna take me a while to build probably a year or two.

My plans in a nut shell
6.5in lift ( long arm kit )
35s 4.88 gears
lockers
armor
its gonna be my daily / weekend fun toy.

But for now I am thinking bout doing the 2in budget boost lift and maybe trying to stuff some 30x9.5in mud tires in there and a semi cheap but decent locker. ( anyone hear bout the " posi lockers? "

anyways heres a few pics of my new found love

why buy crappy lift parts now instead of saving for some decent ones later if you already know you want bigger? sounds like $600-$1000 down the drain to me
and whats the story on the semi-beastly looking xj parked behind yours

because im not looking to do the lift for quite a while and I would like a lil more lift plus its not 600 down the drain, I can get a budget lift as they call it which i have found for like 100 bucks or goto the junk yard and pick up zj coils to get a 1.5 in lift in the front and get some GM full size pu shackles for a 1-1.5 in the rear. which would be ok for now for me. And that is my buddies it needs some work lol I have purpose for everything so a little lift aint gonna kill me. I am also in the process of finishing school and starting to save up to move into a place of my own. lol

We're in the same boat, I'm a 20 year old college student. I've got a turbo '96 Miata that has basically turned into a drift/drag car. Just picked up a '93 white 5-speed Cherokee 4x4. I'm cheap and this is gonna be my daily, so I'm interested in what you do for a lift without spending much.

maroon one is a coupe s13 its my buddies who also has a cressida that I think is in one of my other pics, why do it twice? well cuz ( not to be rude here ) but im not lazy and I am not worried bout doing it twice. I do all my work on all my vehicles so its is nothing to me to put two shackles on, and two spacers and shocks. lol Plus seens how i have not done worked on a cherokee before then me lifting it now is good experience for when I do it the second or maybe third or fourth time. lol I understand what yoursaying by saying wait but im not worried bout it. its just my time putting into it. This is what i love to do, I goto school for Auto service tech, been working on cars since i was little. I built my 240, imma build this a lil over the next few years. I still gotta finish my drift car.

just ordered front sway bar bushings and i ordered the 2in budget build lift kit, 2in coil spacer and 2in shackles just so i can get a little more tire clearance. Next on my list is some new shocks, then saving for a locker.

What is a good locker for around 200-300 or less?

aussie locker is like $250. you're gonna want to do some research though. putting any money into a dana 35 is never recommended around here
and I dont think people would say to lock the front for your first build either. and for the front I believe you have to remove the RP to install anyway..
so once again, $250 locker that you will be hard pressed to sell for $100 on CL. or just keep saving for an axle swap since you plan on going bigger anyway...
just my .02

Well im not putting one in the front for now just want one in the rear, I actually can get front and rear dodge 3/4 ton axles right now but i wasnt gonna do that for a few years and my buddy might end up selling them. I just want something to give me an extra tire to get traction when im out on a trail. ( again this is just gonna be aweekend fun toy / daily ) not a full on wheeler im not lookin to make it a full wheeler for quite a while.

and the 240 has a stock single cam but it does what I need it to for now. Im gonna end up getting a dual cam fully rebuilding it and putting forged internals and all that good shhtuff and then swapping it in. But that project is gonna be done after I get my own place. same with the jeep.

Yea the sr20 is a nice motor if that's the twin can ur talkin about. A few years back I had a 200sx ser n met a lil group of dudes who built em. One guy got I think 570hp outta one he built on a stock block. Then there was a ticking coming from the head so he pulled it. Far as the jeep goes if u have seen the thread for bored throttle body's from thexjfiles its a nice way to get a lil more power out of the 4.0.
