Default "My" First Jeep Build

Hi guys. So i have had a 2000 grand Cherokee for around 6 years and had all kinds of fun with it but cant really do too much as it also belongs to my ex lol. So 3 Days ago i bought my First Cherokee. MINE!! Fer $350

So When i got it home i could tell there was some things wrong with it. Went through it and obvious things were speedo not working no 4wd, no steering wheel cover, loud noises grinding and so on. well after the help on the forum you guys have provided i have began work on it.

Known issues.
loud rattle near exhaust. Fixed-left manifold was loose
Speedo not working. -Fixed-pulled a sensor from local yard
Misc hoses missing. -fixed-replaced.
e-brake not holding. -Fixed-tightened lines
Steering wheel missing. -Fixed-pulled from local yard
4 wheel not working. -Fixed-pulled linkage from local yard.
Still to be fixed.
The flexplate or inspection plate is missing, seems they replaced the started and didn't put it back on.
pretty good oil leak, looks like it is coming from the pan.
vacuum lines, and more vacuum lines. this is going to be fun-/end sarcasm. If anyone knows of a diagram that would be nice.
Needs new cylinders on the back door.
Issues with the choke and carb..think mainly from vacuum line issues.

So the next job is pulling starter, pan and replacing seal, starter and then putting the newly found plate on. Any thing i should be aware of when doing this? never done before as i am a novice at mechanical things lol. Now for pics.

When you pull the pan off (Search this will make life easier for u) might as well replace the rear main seal, clean oil pump and screen ,or just replace it cause of age. When replacing gaskets use the one peice felpros never cork. Also check quadratec for thier replacement carb this will save lots of headaches from that factory carb if its bad. Also when useing the search function type in junkyard upgrades, and also bastard pack. good luck

On the 4.0 straight six you can. I'm so sure about on that V-6.

if that their is the 2.8L then you might wanna check out the 3.4L outta the newer camaros they are in the same motor family 60 deg V6 you would wanna put your heads intake and oil pan on the 3.4L block its a great upgrade for any 2.8L powered automobile
