My first Jeep! 88 Wagoneer Limited
I picked up this 88 Wagoneer Limited for 1400 about a month ago. The previous owner built a low profile roof rack and rear bumper which I really like.
But there are a lot of things I would like to do to it in order to make this old thing into a solid, trustworthy, trailworthy rig. It has a 2'' lift with blocks and coil spacers, I only want to add one more inch to it and I would like some suggestions on how to go about doing it.
The last guy made a huge mistake by putting road tires on it (and I live in Colorado), A/T is kind of the stardard for any smart person here but I want some new tires. I want some I can still use on the road, as this it my DD. But I would like them to be rugged, I want them to perform well on the trails, and look cool;]
If anyone has any input or suggestions, I am all ears...
To do list:
3'' lift
Sturdy or modified front bumper
Flat fender flares (maybe yard edging)
Bedline the rocker panels and fender flairs
Off road lights
Extra backup lights
Winch
Real Tires (31's)
Cold air intake
Throttle body spacer
Lightbar (for the fire dep.)
Paint job (either red or OD green, just the top half, from the woodgrain up)
Dash camera mount
If you have ANY xj with similar mods, I would LOVE to see them... I need ideas, I'll never be able to build this rig without them!
And remember \/
\/
Thanks alot everyone!!!

welcome! take the 2" blocks off and put a 3" lift kit on. if you dont have the cash for that ill give u the link for some junkyard parts that will work to give you the desired amount of lift. you can also get shackles in the rear and 3" coil spacers up front and new shocks but if it was my jeep id take blocks off, put shackles on rear then drive it like that until had money for lift and tires. goodluck with the build

Here's my Jeep with both on. i think the square ones look better on the front but thats my opinion. the only reason i have them up top is because my friend had 2 of the same square ones so i mounted them up top.

quick update
Since the last post I've done a little more work. First I took off the fender flares and decided I poems the way it looked that way so I proceeds with the bedliner project. Painting the rocker panels, grill, headlights bezzle and fenders. I also added a few tools to the roof rack a shovel and a sledge hammer. And I threw a cargo net over it all. Got two shackles and painted them yellow, to match my recovery strap and sledge hammer handle. Ol try to post some pictures for yall tomorro.

or pay 10 bucks more and get

probably about the cheapest 3" lift kits that you'll find... you want to stay away from blocks (can cause axle wrap) and add-a-leaf kits 'cause the lift doesn't last very long and will eventually sag and ride poorly
shackles and coil spacers are a great way to go on a budget as well, but I believe that you can only get 2" at the most... if you want to run 31's you can easily do it with 2" lift and the right bumpstops... in fact, since you removed your flares, you may even be able to do it without the bumpstops.
keep us posted man, looks like a nice jeep!
