Well fellas this is my first build up. I just picked up my new baby. A 2000 jeep Cherokee sport over the weekend for 1800, it has 143000 miles, and has a laundry list of new parts on it. Like a new radiator, starter, alternator, battery, u joints, fan, tires and a bunch of other various parts. And was never wheeled, it was only driven by his wife to work everyday until he bought her a new car(a van
). The only thing that is negative about it is NY's secret tax, called RUST!!! oh well nothing that isn't fixable right? The things that have rust is the rockers(can build them
) back right quarter panel(fixable) rear lift-gate(not really concerning $50 from u-pull yard) and drivers door on the bottom($40 from u-pull yard). One thing that i like is that the guy that i bought it from hates rust, so when he bought it from the local dodge dealership, he rhino lined the frame it(saves me some work
).
Im a 17 yea old senior in HS and i work as a cashier at a local grocery store, and i don't have a whole lot of parental support to make this into a trail rig, so i am going to take baby steps. I also have to drive 40 miles a day for work and school purposes. If your looking to see a crazy 6in lift running on 40's or engine swaps im sorry but it isn't going to happen right away. Also i live in NY all we have here is woods, snow and it rains 290 days out of the year. CHEAP=GOOD FREE=BETTER!!!!
Here is the plans for her:
1) fix rust when my dads garage gets empty(im building rockers out of scrap stainless) eventually going to make some sliders to help protect them.
2) tear seats and rugs out and give her a good cleaning(although doesn't really need it).
3) put a better audio system in it
4) 2-3 in of lift max(probably going to do a add a leaf kit in the rear or rig up a bastard pack and figure something out for front)
5) go to 30-31's(largest i am going to do untill i get done with school completely)
6) roof rack and off road lights(im going to build it)
7) bumpers(im going to build)
here's some eye candy for you guys, sorry about only a few pictures it was kinda cold out and i was in a rush cause i had to get to work

i still haven't gotten her on the road yet because of the insurance agency is kinda wack. but hopefully tomorrow she will be on.
Enjoy!

well guys it should be on the road today hopefully if everything goes according to plan. I talked it over with my dad last night and he might be nice and let me put it under his business's insurance. My brother does the same thing and he only pays $250 a year for his 01 cummins
. So if that were to happen i could build it a little faster.

Just build em out of 3/16 2x4 tube. Its cost me only 65.00 for materials. Personal time learning to weld nicely $?????$. My rockers look like swiss cheese, 2x4 tube is the route I chose.

alright so today me and my buddy were putting speakers in the front because for some odd reason they don't work. Any ideas? possibly a loose wire or like a fuse or something?

Update:
Yesterday was my birthday. so i went shopping for **** my my heep. I bought a new head unit and about 45 feet of speaker wire. i installed the headunit and i still do not have any sound in my front speakers. sooooo i am thinking that i have to run some new wire. im going to run new stuff to both the front and rear just to be on the safe side.

so in the last few days i have not been able to get a whole lot of stuff done. It has been wicked cold here along with snow not very good conditions to work on a vehicle. (my dads garage is still full)
. But i picked up some aux driving lights from advanced for $20. And i might be picking up a roof rack with 4 daylighters for $150. cant go wrong with that now can you?
oh yea and i got my windows tinted, i need to upload some pictures for you guys i think i will have to do it tomorrow or monday for you guys. i have a feeling you will like the flex.

From what I've seen (or not heard lol) is this is typical in XJs. The drivers side's wiring goes right under foot for some reason. Eventualy it just separates.
