Default My 97 Sport Build

I got this XJ for my son as a first car. He later got a Mustang so I took it over. Got some almost new 33" BFG TAs, a Rustys 4.5 spring pack. Gonna build bumpers, and possible a tire carrier and roof rack. Took off the crappy stock fender flares, trimmed the fenders, and I have half of the lift done. UPS lost my coil springs.

got the lift done....Rustys said 4 hours in your driveway.....HA....more like 4 days in your garage but none the less, its done. The lift was higher than expected. Rustys said that you will get better than 6 inches on their 4.5 lift. they say some settling will occur. I hope..I am getting some vibration at 20 mph them some at 50 mph. Anyway....I was at a junkyeard today geting a track bar mount thay I f'ed up, and I saw a Nissan Pathfinder with a swing out spare tire mount. I grabbed that sucker and ended up getting it for FREEEE! I'll fab that up on my XJ.

Tested? Well I flexed it thru a small ditch. Some popping and clicking...dont have disconnects but have seen some homemade ones that I think I'm gonna try.

Get used to the poping and creaking its an xj thing. Nice rig.
The clicking may be your axle u-joints. You may want to check them.

Headed to the alignment shop in the morning. One of my Rustys' shocks was squirting fluid. I called them and their shipping out a new one. Nice people at Rustys. Once the suspension and tires are complete it will be time to start the bumpers. I am changing all the fuilds this weekend and changing the u-joints. I am considering 4.56 gears but just not sure.

Nice ride...love the Bushwackers. Just cant spend $500 on fender flares but they sure look good. Got an alignment today. Damn...what a nice riding rig. My buddy got a Rubican Express lift and he swears my Rustys lift is better. I have to promote Rustys. My XJ rides better lifted than it did stock. Love it and cant wait to get the bumpers done.

I know I said I was gonna build bumpers and I still plan on it but I couldn't resist looking at my son's TJ bumper lying in the garage. So I bolted it on and I think it looks great.
