Some more pics. I found my old canon powershot so the pics should look much better than the damned cellphone!

Ran the sticker/stripe remover down the side of the jeep. That's wicked quick yo!

If you remember those artgum erasers from art class, that's the residue it leaves behind.

It even took off years of duct tape residue. The goo did transfer to the wheel though.

That damned rust hole again

Stripe on other side before removal.

Took the TB off to look at.

Yum yum get you some!

Everything off of pass side. This is a real treat to work on over my '08. I can get my ham-hock fists in here

A lot of oil, unsure the source.

This flange is consuming too much of my time. I broke a drill bit trying to drill this out

As I sit now, I have a fuel line and 2 disconnects for the trans line, then bell housing bolts and the motor will be out. I should have the disconnect tools here Monday, and the other motor mid-weekish.

Why undo the that collector? just undo the intake and exhaust manifold...it takes some contortion but it comes off.

The '01 manifold and '99 manifolds have different sized openings on exhaust so would like to port match. Also going to coat both manifolds as well.

Just cut the pipe off by the trans get a coupler and weld it back together after you get your bolts out just make sure we're you cut it you makea mark along the length of the pipe to help you line it back up.

Was outside today some more, grabbed some pics that I did not the last time.

Stripes done. These door ding strips...I have some ideas to help bring them back otherwise I am going to huck them. I thought cleaning them would help, however as they dried there is no change

The driver's side floor pan. I sprayed some permatex rust converter stuff on it. Supposed to convert the rust and then change to a black rubber type coating I guess.

Flange is finally apart, however there was a cost to this.

I am basically waiting for some tools to arrive I ordered to undo these quick release fittings, I tried some picks and small screw drivers but failed. Started taking off the manifold.

Another quick release fitting.

Not much else going on so started on the headlight conversion.

Back of factory wiring.

Factory wiring compared to new wiring.

Hard to see back of plug is open to the elements. Good going cheap China ****. Thinking I am going to carefully smear some RTV in there, or else pack it with dielectric grease.

This harness does have a ground for each bulb, which I like.

There is a spur washer under the terminal here.

Hit it with primer.

Then my camera ran out of batteries and I got lazy.

I also do have a set of 4 pintle hole injectors coming and a larger alternator as well. I will be upgrading the key grounds as well.

I don't have a welder. Perhaps you didn't hear me, I will say it again. I don't have a welder. Once more? I don't have a welder.

If I had a welder I'd patch the floor pan up with sheet metal rather than fiberglass or whatever else I had around the garage.

BTW, your location and jeep is wrong.

Got the new alternator in today.

Red marks is where it hits, basically flashing from when it was cast.

Hit it with the die grinder.

A clean work bench is a wonderful thing. Wish mine was clean

Hard to see, but it clears.

Injectors came today, some 784's

These are awesome. Was able to undo the quick release clips in no time.

These are the new headlights that will go in. They take an H4 bulb rather than that sealed beam crap.

Stuff zip tied out of the way.

Radiator gone.

Workbench is a pig sty

Off the jack stands.

Off the mounts!

These E12 bolts are for the MFL

At this point the cross member is dropped and I still can't get in there

More persuasion. Don't tell my brother, I've had this strap for a long time. Using it to twist the motor.

Maybe?

c'mon....

FINE! I'll get the load balancer.

There we go.

It's out!

The cats are oh so cute!

The pit of doom. Now to clean up the bay. It is very much full of ick.

Intake manifold is off.

Some schmutz from inside the intake ports.

Tasty.

More tasty.

Manifold-less.

Motor down for the night.

Other side.

Intake manifold in a pail of simple green.

Monday the headers, cats, and intake manifold will come to work with me. I may not coat the cats, but the headers and intake will be done with something very heavy in ceramic, and maybe aluminum to help dissipate heat. The fasteners I'll run though a dip spin and she should look better.

Tomorrow is supposed to be **** cold so not sure if I am going to get the other motor in the garage or not and on the stand.

Nice work. Pictures of your intake ports makes me want to take this all apart on mine too! Bet it'll drive real nice once it's all cleaned up.

I have a welder maybe you should have brought it home Friday when you were here? Also I saw the strap and thought it looked very familiar. Idk why you were using a strap in that manner that's unsafe. Lol.
