Took the XJ out for the first run about a month ago and ran well until breaking the upper link, which then caused some issues and other breakage trying to get it on the trailer.

Working on making a winch bumper tomorrow for the new Smittybilt XCR10 winch I bought. Will take some pics of progress on the bumper and post tomorrow night.

He didn't mention it, but it is back together now with a new upper link. I believe the link failed because when the "tab" was bent, the metal fatigued and cracked. It is something we should have caught before the trip but unfortunately did not. The new link was plated from the tab to the tube itself and should be much stronger. While it was apart the drag link and track bar were sleeved with 1.5" to match the tie-rod. Also we added limiting straps.

Thanks and I don't think it would be a good idea to run that car over.

Good to see you got it out and wheeled it. Looks real good. You would not need to make a winch bumper if you had kept the ARB

Thanks, and I also never thought I would get a winch. Guess I was wrong.

An update on the bumper. Will be working on it again Saturday night.

The idea is to put some 3/16" plate where the cardboard is. Might add a hoop, depending on how it looks as it gets closer to being done. I also do have the JCR bumper tie-ins for strength.

Couple more pictures of bumper.

Bumper only weights 40 lbs.

With the winch and fairlead a total of 120 lbs. Not bad at all.

Should have a final product picture tomorrow.

Finished up the bumper. Just need to get more bolts for the JCR tie ins. Winch is bolted on and wired up. He still needs to get some wire protectors for the winch wires. Also he only ordered one tab from JCR so the other side will get welded on, on wednesday before the Turkey day mounds trip.

Now that the bumper is done, I should be starting on the Tcase skid tomorrow.

Tcase skid is gonna have to wait. It was too dark and cold when I got home. Maybe tomorrow.
