Default My 1999 XJ Build

Figured I would finally stop being lazy and copy it over from one of the other sites I'm on.

Jan 2005: Stock...bought

June 2005: 3" and 31" MT/R's

July 2006: 6.5" custom long arm kit and 33 BFG M/T's

October 2006: Roof rack and ARB Bullbar

January 2007: Getting ready to bolt in my new 8.8

September 2007:

Upgraded to Rusty's 8.5" coils and 6.5" leafs along with my 2" shackles
Next to new 35" BFG M/T's
JCR 1-ton steering

Anyways, here are a few pics right after I got it done.

Took it out same day for some fun.

November 2008: Starting my Dana 44 and 9" swap

Axles out of a 1978 F-150:
D44: TNT truss, Yukon 5.13 gears, custom hi-steer, and eventually a locker, that I haven't decided upon yet.
9": disc brakes, Yukon 5.13 gears, mini-spool, and probably a truss at some point.

Got rid of my custom y-link long arm kit in favor of a custom built 3-link, which is in the works.

Will be running 37" Iroks eventually on recentered H1's.

My build would go faster, but being a poor college student, it gets tough.

That is a sweet build. I want to do something similar to what you have done.

I remember seeing that in your build thread...my buddy actually did it for me, but he said it went easy. I'm sure when he sees this thread he'll chime in.

Also, thanks for compliments from everyone.

So yeah time to update this a little bit.

Bought some H1's with the 36" Goodyear Wrangler R/T II's, which will only stay on it until I can afford something else, probably Irok's. Bought new centers from Copperhead Fabrication. Got them welded in, then cleaned them up and painted them.

I think it looks pretty good, but what do I know.

Started working on the 3-link. Got the lower arms and crossmember done. Next is to do the upper link and my high steer. Got F-250 knuckles and got the passenger side drilled and tapped to match. Ordered my high steer arms from Koz Offroad.

So as of now my rear is completely done minus new gears and brake lines. The stance looks pretty good and I'm pleased with how it has come out so far.

Thanks...yeah it's slowly making it there. Working 50 hours a week and college full time makes it hard to get it done...but at least I'm off school for summer now.

Thanks as well and hello neighbor. Once you retire it, it seems the projects never end. After this time it will be close to the end however...or so I say.

I love them too, but when I put the XJ in the garage for this build, I took the bumper off and sold it. I probably won't ever run a winch so the money was better used elsewhere.
