Been awhile since I’ve posted. Been doing stuff when I get the time. Finished welding up the rust in the pan and painting the whole thing with POR 15 and undercoating. New extended brake lines, new leaf spring bushings, stripped the flares off.
There’s a lot of random little **** that never seems to end. It’s road worthy now though. Still needs some work but at least I can drive it as is.
Gonna try and find some auto axles next.

Finished the DIY front bumper kit. Was a lot of work. Winch coming soon.
I picked up some axles out of a 98 automatic. Gonna go through them, probably ad some lockers, bushings in the front and ball joints while it’s out. Maybe add some gussets?

Something to consider if you haven't already done soo while the front axle is out - box/plate the passenger upper control arm mount

That front bumper looks nice and those floors are looking excellent!

Keep those updates coming

That looks like a awesome upgrade. Did you just make all the pieces yourself?

Also do I know which control arms bushings to order for the axle side? Thanks!

Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

These are just 2 that popped up quick on the google machine. There are a number of them from different sources. Upper control arm mount plate as a generic search. I've done this multiple times with leftover bits from my fab table projects. Typically use 1/8" plate to cover and something to fill gusset the inside like square or round tube.

i'd leave your old bushing in place while you weld in the cover plate - then remove and replace with new after its all said and done

The winch is probably nicest thing I’ve bought for it. Hard to find them used for much less though. Pulled the battery and of course there was rust under the tray.

Finally patched up my rust under the battery tray and hooked up my winch.
I decided to do an AC delete. Then saw people relocating their alternator to the AC bracket. So I guess I’m gonna go for it. I’m probably gonna delete the mechanical fan and run another electric fan.
I’m wondering if I should upgrade to a larger alternator too.
Always something!

Got the alternator to fit, just had to modify the housing. I kept the mechanical fan for now, and got rid of the idler pulley. Took about 4 tries to get the right size belt

Finally ended up with a 71” belt

Installed the new axles
All new brakes and bushings. Auto axles out of a 98. No more CAD, pulled out all the vacuum lines.

The new axles are working great.Going from 3.08 to 3.55s is a big difference.

No more vacuum disconnect

Dormar universal overflow

Moved vacuum canister to top. Not much vacuum lines left

I changed the cooling system from closed to open. New radiator, cap, lines to heater core, thermostat and radiator hoses. I deleted the bypass stuff and I have a manual switch for the fan so pretty easy swap.
