Haha thanks... Looking back I was a maniac! I must have been crazy to spend that much time on the engine compartment, its not like anyone sees it haha. Oh well, I'm over it

Well I have good news and bad news. The good is I gave my jeep a garage alignment, and the death wobble is gone! The bad is in the process I split open my chin... Let's hope I don't need stitches..

Duct tape is supposed to fix everything right? Hahaha but fortunately I didn't need duct tape or stitches. I just cleaned it up, held it together for a hour, and it stayed shut. I'll probably have a scar across my face but I'm over it haha, at least the jeep is fixed now so I guess it's time for some wheelin'!

I REALLY like the Jeep! You've done an awesome job on it and the fact that you did it mostly on your own starting at 16 and it being your first ride means you deserve some major respect!

I only HOPE at 35 years old, I have the same attitude and mechanical aptitude and ability on my new (to me) XJ that you've shown on yours.

I hope Milo is one of those vehicles that stays with the owner for a lifetime. Dude, don't ever sell it. If you do, I'm sure whatever the price is will be too cheap.

Loving this thread. Let's see more. I need the encouragement!!

thats an amazing Jeep dude, I love under the hood lol. its a clean xj. i think im having the same problem with my Xj with the wobbling at 55mph. i keep telling my dad to take it to get aligned but he doesnt want to, how did you do your " garage alignment"?
Also may not be legal in your state but i think if you tinted all you could on your windows it'd look CLEAN. and if you got black tailight covers.
Keep it coming i like to see another high school kid doing some stuff.
i wish i could do stuff like that but i have hardly any tools or income.
but... im taking like 4 auto classes next year than welding my senior year

Thanks, i really appreciate it. You know my cherokee is much more then a vehicle to get from point A to point B, its a lifestyle, a hobby, and a icon of the past 3 years of my life. Starting at 16 my jeep was just simply a car to get where i wanted to go. Now that i'm 18 my jeep has become a member of the family haha, and you can't put a dollar amount on that. Milo will continue to be a part of the family as i pass it down to my kids, so that it may bring them as much good times as it has me. Anyway, Congrats on the new xj! Sometimes its hard to maintain hope, and a good attitude when something breaks, or something just doesn't work the way you want to, but i just look at it as a learning experience. Just try to keep positive, and when the time comes that you finally figure it out, the feeling is great! Owning a old jeep is definitely a love hate relationship! But nobody said it wasn't worth it! haha happy jeeping

Thanks man! getting it so clean was a LOT of work! haha... but yeah you definitely need to get your jeep in a alignment shop! If your track bar, and ball joint are good, and everything else is solid, chances are it just needs a good alignment! All i did was adjust my track bar so the axle was actually centered under my jeep like it should, then i got the steering wheel centered by loosening the two bolts, and turning the sleeve by the steering box until my steering wheel was center.. which was basically trial and error until i got it perfect haha. Then i adjusted the toe as best i could careful not to give it too much toe out so it doesn't wear down my tires. You can get it close with a tape measure, but nothing beats taking it in to a good alignment shop so it can be perfect. Ill probably take mine in tomorrow and get a alignment just to make sure everything is good. But i actually got my windows tinted about 4 months ago, it may just not look like it from the pics haha. My rear three are limo 5%. Then my front two are at the legal limit. But here in utah its illegal to tint the tail lights, but it would look sweet thats for sure. But thats pretty cool your taking 4 auto classes! I only took 1 my junior year, and 1 my senior year. But thanks to the tools at the auto shop at my high school i was able to rebuild my engine, so i'm not complaining haha.

Well i took the jeep out on the trails today. It turns out that bouncing over rocks+spring+cb antenna= antenna banging on the roof, and scratching up the side of the jeep... Not exactly the best thing for the paint, and the cb antenna. On the bright side, most of the black left from the antenna on the side of the jeep rubbed off, and i had a good time! so i'm over it haha

So i decided it would be a good idea to take off the spring, even if i risk the chance of snapping my antenna.

Also on my way home my jeep was making some loud noises, and it was vibrating if i let off the gas. So i pulled over thinking something was wrong with the driveline. Nope... it turns out that i only had 3 lug nuts remaining, only 1 of which was tight, the other 2 were loose, there was 1 lug nut completely missing, and a snapped stud. So basically i was on the verge of loosing a tire, and having a very bad day haha. So i walked back and got a different car, drove to o'riley, picked up a new stud and 2 new lug nuts, and tightened the 4 lug nuts down as tight as i could get them, and drove home. vibration and noises gone! imagine that haha.

So it looks like tomorrow ill be replacing a stud... so excited... not. I also discovered the effects of leaving my sway bar links on while going rock crawling, which are too long by the way, but hey they were 20 bucks haha. It scratched up the frame pretty good, and left a nice dent at the top... looks like ill be doing some touch up paint work tomorrow after replacing the stud. And now i know before i hit the trials i guess i should probably take off the sway bar links haha... lesson learned.

And because i had nothing better to do afterwords i gave my jeep a bath...

Anyone else seen this decal before... like... ever? It was on there when i bought the jeep obviously, hence how it got the name milo, but i honestly have no idea what a milo is, or what it means.... Anybody have any ideas? haha

If you snap it, check out the Wilson Flex antenna. It's a smaller diameter fiberglass whip and you WILL NOT snap it. You can touch the ends together, it's so flexible. I used to run them on my semi when I was going in and out of places that had low hanging trees. I got tired of snapping antennas so I went to the flex antenna and never broke another one, even running them in the trees mounted on the mirrors of my semi.

I don't know how you'd keep it from hitting the jeep. Any antenna might do that. That is why you occasionally see somebody with an old tennis ball cut and slid over their antenna. The ball will hit the paint, rather than the antenna.

"There's no such thing as too much overkill!"

Thanks thats good to know! When I break it that's what I'll get then. I don't really care that it hits the side of my jeep, I am just trying to minimize how much it hits it haha.

In other news I think I might do the doorless mod today? Should I?
