Thanks haven't had much time to work on it since I've been working a lot lately but hopefully picking up a new/used motor that isn't junk this weekend for 200, in the mean time my daily 01 XJ decided it wanted to start leaking bad at the intake. Started with the whistle now it's got the ticks need to get that done first so I can have "reliable transportation" for work. Also putting my house up for sale next week since I'll be getting out of the Marines in May so who knows how much time I'll have to work on the Manche, hopefully I can at least get the motor in and running before it's time to move

Disputes the freezing cold weather down here in North Carolina I spent some time in the garage working on the engine getting it torn down cleaned up, painted and ready for some new goodies. Don't worry that valve covers just resting up there to prevent overspray.

I was building an 86 with a 4.3 swap. Total build will have cost around 10k tp do it the way I want. So I am opting for something more common, newer and drivable during a build

Wow, that's a series of unfortunate events! Like that you're keeping at it though!
So are you in Michigan now? I feel your pain with the cold, I have some things I need to take care of myself, but this weather has halted all of it.

Well as my string of bad luck goes my daily started knocking/ticking guessing it's the lifters so I'm putting the pedal to the metal on Comanche today I ran all the engine bay wiring the rear brake line and fuel line dropped the gas tank to fab the fuel pump. If the weather holds out maybe I'll be able to get the motor in this weekend

Finished putting the motor together today, have to pick up my power steering reservoir from the parts store tomorrow then it'll be completely done minus oil then it's going in finally!
If you notice I cut the clutch fan out and I'm going to run a shorter belt and dual electric fans

After further thought I decided I would rather not have to deal with A/C so I decided to relocate the alternator

Well I got a serpentine belt from autozone 2 miles from my house for the Comanche made it 1/4 mile back from autozone and cylinder 5 or 6 in my daily came knock knock knocking and kicked in the door. So my daily is down and out. Put it on Craigslist for 600 bones since I'll be outta the Marine Corps in a May and with my house about to sell don't have time or space for projects or junk(beside the Comanche of course that's not going anywhere)

Sorry to hear about the DD XJ. I know how rough it is to try and work on something while your DD kinda falls apart.
You seem to know what you're doing about the entire swap though, so i commend you for that! too bad they didnt make more MJs.

Thanks i really appreciate it I've been reading and studying on the swaps for awhile now just took planning everything out on a budget to still be worth doing.
Well after a lot of longish night I have the motor and tranny in. My fuel tank have been converted and is in and wired up. Still need to finish the dash and some other things here and there but I have it almost ready to start...well try to start
For now it's just a multi colored hot rod the body and paint work will have to wait I have to be moved outta my house by the end of this month. So it's crunch time to just get it driveable again!
