Lipstick on a pig - 88 Comanche Build
It all started when I rolled my 99 Cherokee over.
-3in Zone lift
-Locked front and rear on 235's
-A/c converted to oba
Here it is the day I got it towed back from the impound lot, cost me around $200 for one day.
And here it is stripped down about as far as a Cherokee can get.
And a video of it getting crushed
Now here's the Comanche the day I picked it up.
After going to look at it I figured out it had about 10 licence plates for a drivers side floor, a can of bondo or 2 for a passenger bed side. Rockers are gone too but I have a set of 2x6 sliders off the Cherokee to put on. Frame was solid and so was the rest of the bed and just about everything else, but the guy told me the motor was bad and it had sat for around 2 years. It had 135k on the odometer. 4.0 2wd 5-speed. I offered the guy 700 and he took it.
I brought it home and found the starter was wired wrong and it started right up. Didn't take long to realize the throttle was stuck wide open after she fired up. It ran like crap so I drank a few beers and started tracing and tearing out vacuum lines. It turned out the EGR valve was stuck open. Fixed that and it ran great minus a slight misfire. I later found out the misfire is probably due to the rearmost exhaust manifold stud being snapped off in the head. Can't wait to fix that.
Piled the bed full to the top with snow and went out and beat on it a little
Driverside floorpan after I cut out all the licence plates and rust
New floorpan and some metal donated by the Cherokee
Seam sealer fixes everything
I should be getting more done now that it's warming up outside, so hopefully I'll be posting more soon.
