Got my 2nd XJ a month ago. A 99 this time, my old one was a 98. I decided to do a few simple mods to it by cutting the fenders and putting on 31's. The fenders took me about 5 to 6 hours worth of work to do, I just took my time and it was such a fun project to do. I would suggest having an angle grinder and a wooden baseball bat (the baseball bat made my life so easy when it came to folding the back fenders). It is crazy how big of a difference it makes, and now it actually looks like a Jeep now!
I replaced my Headliner in about 3 hours, so if anybody in the Virginia/ Maryland area needs help doing this I would love to help out over a few beers or something. I did as close to a professional job on it as you can get.
I need to do some suspension work to it soon in the next couple months... Might as well put a 2 inch lift on it. I am thinking about putting the Old Man Emu kit on it, then with some front coil spring spacers and rear shackles just to give it just a little bit more lift.
My old XJ i had for 9 years and hit some ice during a snowstorm in February and actually bought my new XJ from the tow truck driver who pulled me out HAHA.
