Well today is the day I should get her all done and get the tag. All the rain that we have had the last week or so has limited my amount of work. I have to paint the trim around the windows and a couple of other things and its done. pics to come.

Love your resto build man! I really enjoy seeing these old jeeps come back to life. Can't wait to see what the oil and coolant look like when you change them. That rotor is the worst I've ever seen. He had to have been grinding on metal for a year.

Well I ran into a little snag. It seems my father in law cant find the title. Plus I went to put the exhaust on and I couldnt find the proper fittings so I had to tac it on until I can get to the exhaust shop and without a tail pipe this thing is way to loud for me.

Muad thanks The oil may be bad but the coolent was flushed due to a new radaitor. Im just waiting on him to find the title and I will be driving it.

If I recall, DMV can get you a copy of the title for a fee.

It is about $85 dollars for a new one on the spot. I was trying not to spend anymore money than I needed to at the moment. I may have to cough it up anyway. I talked to the exhaust guy and he said he could hook me up for about 80-90 bucks. That will be the first place I go when I get her legal.

Shark I was a little hesitant at first but I said what the hell. My dad thought I was crazy to paint it with this but he loves it now and said he might paint some stuff with it soon. He's been painting boats for 40 years.

Wait so after all this you haven't changed the oil?? If the rotors were in that terrible of shape, I don't think I want to know how old that oil is... I'd get on doing an oil change like... yesterday.

Yeah I bought everything for an oil change when I bought the brake parts. I have it sitting on my work bench at my house. The truck is at my dads house. My son wants to help with working on the truck with me so I thought he would start with all the oil changes. Dont worry I dont drive it yet Ive put about 1/2 a mile on it since he gave it to me. Once I get it running I will do the oil then trans fluid and the diffs.

go to the DMV with your uncle, they will do it there on the spot without having to reissue a new title.

Well I got the title done but they made me pay both fees anyway. It was $167. I got the muffler fixed today and she drives better than I thought. The floor with no carpet gets hot around my feet so I think I may come up with an fix for that.
The first project I think I will tackle up till I get money for a lift and tires is the head gasket. While it was on the lift at the muffler shop I got a good look at the under side of the motor. The oil is coming from the top and running all over. I think I will do the transfer case leak also. Its leaking from where the shaft comes out of the back of the case. Does anyone know where to get the gasket kit online?

I'd check the valve cover gasket first. Common problem with XJ's. I had the same problem ad changed my valve cover gasket. No more oil all over the sides of the block now.
