Got alot done today... Got my upper link tabs welded in and bolts in but not tight... Wheels pulled off the 40's and put together my H1's... I bought the rubber run flats for them which also make them double bead locks... Little did i know the 8 and 12 bolt style were different... So i just put them all together without and ill buy a aftermarket version later to make these double beadlocks again...

Got new front brake pads today since the axle came with the brakes all apart... And re assembled all the front brakes... Then because i got closed end lug nuts and the lugs were to long i had to go and cut a half inch of every frickin stud... What a pain when it came time to install the wheels and tires...

but there on! Jeep rolled its first 20 feet today in 8 months! Lol... Looks good... Still 4.5in of lift... No trimming in pics... And 40's... But im sure ill be trimming for flex in the rear... Front i wont be trimming anything...

i like the stance!! coming along nice and frugal.

huntingman, i have figued out a way to be really frugal. i buy parts from the junk yard, and sell them on cl. (dana 60's, tuned port engines, d 44s) all of that stuff pays for my jeep parts. all i had to do was put down the first $200 on a front dana 60, and sold it for $1200. put that $200 back in my pocket, and have been doing it since. (i used to do this with jeeps, but parts are easier)

Ya man thats what i was doing when i was working for myself (slowely)... Lol... Bought 2 dana 44's from cherokees for $150... Sold for $400... The other thing ive been doing is buying modified xjs getting what i,need and selling the rest... Like this red one ill sell the motor and tranny and my stock transfercase and make my money back on it... But ya man i do the same... Just not all the time... Also bought a tj soft top fpr $100 and sold it for $350... Lots of jeeps show up at my local junkyard... Need to venture into othet vehicles... I know them all not just jeeps...

Lol im sorry... I nnneeeeddd more mmmooonnneeeyyy lol... Even frugal aint cheap... Lol... im not sure if u saw this but i bought a cherokee im getting the roll cage from... sYE transfercase from... Driveshafts from... And fuel cell and pumo from... Also gonna be cutting some small stuff off like brackets and the setup for air shocks in the rear...

I paid only $600 for the jeep... And havr a guy giving me $400 just for the motor/tranny/231 with high miles once i get what i want... So only spent $200 on everything listed above which most yall know the SYE 231 is worth more then that alone...

Frugal is cheap but it does take time and patients to wait for a deal to come up...

Here pics of.pulling the cage off yesterday...

Yesterday i cut off the cage and took it off.

well i spent some moneys....

the parts jeep has a upper bracket for a aftermarket trac bar and where i can move it forward a couple inches... its welded on one side and bolts so ill just cut the welds and take the bolt off... ill be reuseing it...

just ordered some 7/8-7/8 heims from ruffstuffspecialties.com and 48" of 2in OD 1.5in ID DOM for the bar... as for the axle end im going to build my own mount with some scrap stock i have and may even end up using some link tabs i bought and didnt end up needing... ill also incorporate the mount where the OEM one was... kinda hard to explain... $150 invested but itll help flex like hell...

Got some work done today... got the fuel cell out of the parts jeep... took the control arms off it for some reason... there aftermarket but horrible looking... tiny cheap china heims... welds only half way around... one upper control arm is about 2inches longer than the other side... one lower arms gone so the other doesnt help much...

did get one 4 point harness... front upper shock mounts that bolt on so i wont be using the stupid rod style... makes it like how the bottom is... also adds 1.5in or so... and i think thats about all i pulled out of it...

oh and he left some small pliers, tire deflator, lighter, sockets, and cheap multi screwdriver... few things im sure im forgetting... stuff like that adds up in costs though... lol

also did some work on my jeep... started looking at it and cutting away at sheet metal... cut forward out of the rockers and all about 6in... then back about 6in or so... then up like 4ish inches i think... i think im going to take the back half at a angle back like the front though... almost looks like if i hit a bump while flexed up itll still hit... any skinneys itll look stupid... guess thats why most just cut all the way straight back...

all the strength seems to be on the inner sheetmetal not the outer... so i plan to strengthen this back out a little bit but ill have to do it instead of talk about it... to complicated... heres what ive cut away so far...

oh and got my buddies plasma cutter fixed... only problem is it was popping breakers... have to run it off a cord and all mine were like 16ga... got this 12ga 50ft and dang they cost a lot ($45)... proud of it though! lol...

ordered my 5.38 gears from a company on ebay at only $345 shipped front and rear... the rears are standard 5.38's and i wont need a carrier... the fronts are thick gears so i wont be needing a carrier... now to study gear installation cause ill be doing them on 3 vehicles once i learn on this one... lol... the other two are DD's and cant afford to blow them up... lol

Here already!

If yall are wondering why i went with usa standard gears is

1. They are the cheapest and most frugal (other then buying used which i dont like doing with gears)

2. They are owned by yukon and share the same casting and part numbers as yukon... Just cheaper... Probly something about them that doesnt make them as good but ive got a stock 4.0... Not a propane powered 6.0 vortec... So these will be plenty strong! $345 shipped!
