Yakima Bow Down Kayak Rack - Installed
Perfect fit with the basket.. almost like they were made for each other
Also, got a complete Yakima lock set, so everything, right down to the fairing, is now locked up there.
Other than that.. Most of the other parts are here, but just haven't had the time. Yesterday I painted the D ring steel rear bumper, it was made and showed up in raw steel.. started to surface rust in the garage. So, I hit it with some 220, 2 coats of self etching primer, 2 coats of flat back, then 3 thin coats of paint on bed liner. Came out pretty good. Still waiting on the tires.. but here's what I have waiting to go on:
The rear bumper
Front tow hooks
4 rims
2"-ish lift kit
JBA 6-2-1 Header
Universal High Flow Cat
DynoMax Cat Back exhaust
Upgraded Injectors
MSD Coil
Aesthetically the plans are to repaint the front bumper semi flat black. The same color will be used to paint the OEM fender trim. Matched window tint all around. The interior is coming out to paint on bed liner the floor (stop surface rust as well). The roof is getting bed liner as well. The roof is starting to rust in the gutters, and we kayak in the ocean, so all that saltwater isn't helping. I figure the bed liner up top will help all of this (after sanding out the rust areas). Then I think that's it for a while. Oh yeah.. forgot.. I decided to hang the spare from under the rear cargo area shelf I put in, so I will be fabbing some sort of adapter.

lol.. its all the PO's stuff, unless you have seen it replaced by me here.. my GF gives me crap about it all the time.. now she is making fun of me for getting rid of it.. just to bust my b's.. lol
Anyway.. custom bumper fail.. he welded on these two tabs... which were nicely curved to the shape of the body. They were to fill in the gap between the bumper and the tail lights, and around the corner to the sides.. problem being they are about 2" too long on each side, and the hatch hits them and will not shut. As of now, I am rolling bumperless.. I need to cut the tabs, grind smooth.. repaint.. re-install

Hey with that bumper sticker, it is probably more illegal to run with the bumper than without it.. lol just giving you a hard time. Seriously though, that'd been the first thing I took off before even driving it home from where I bought it...

Looking good, it's nice to see somebody building a 2WD Jeep. If it gets you where you need to go then that's all that matters. I'm a kayaking dude myself, and rarely use 4WD anymore, although it is good to have for peace of mind!
I'll be watching this build! PAINT THOSE FENDER FLARES!

Well then let's see it! Haha, you've got yourself a nice XJ on your hands. I rode down to Florida this past Summer and saw quite a bit of lifted XJs on beadlocks and full widths - that's how you guys roll I guess!

Front Tow Hooks/Rear D Ring Bumper/Painted Gaurds and Front Bumper - Installed
Got all the trim together and front/rear bumpers, painted them all "bumper black," except the front bumper and rear bumper both got coated in rattle can bed liner.
While the trim was off, I sanded and painted some rust areas.
Installed the hooks.
I'm not going to get into what the rear bumper took in great detail, but it was mounted 3 times, painted twice, and cut up a little in between..
All back together (it looks shiny due to some trim shine stuff I had, used it to clean my finger prints off of everything.
Rims, Tires, and small lift to be installed this week.. then Accel coil, new upgrade injectors, and full exhaust (header, high flow cat, cat back exhaust). Finally, pull the interior, fix any rust, bed line the floor.. bed line the roof to the gutters.. tint the windows.. the end
Forgot to mention the 30" AT2's have been nixed.. was put on 30 day back order with one seller.. back order with another.. then finally I upped the budget a bit and ordered some 31 x 10.50 Yokohama Geolanders.

Those Yokohamas are some pretty good tires. I had the old style that they don't make anymore but the day i put them on I went in a mud hole and was amazed how much the sidewalls bit when i cut the wheel.
