I haven't really put much thought to it yet, but I am probably going to to just mount it to the side of the main shock, it comes with a lil spacer thing and a c clamp to mount it parallel to it. unless there is a better way to do it?? what would you suggest?

Oh yea, I sure did. Thanks for getting that all sorted out. For that many parts to be coming in I'm glad the brake lines were the only thing to get mixed up! And I just found the sweatshirt in there today. Lol nice surprise!

Last time I heard from Chris he was in the market for a different XJ
Seems the current 1 had way too much rust underneath to make it a good candidate for a build up.

Ok,

FINALY going to update this thread… sorry for neglecting it so long..

I finally sold my ‘desert sand,’ 5speed jeep a couple months ago..(rust bucket L).. and it took me a good 2 months to finally find the perfect jeep to use for my build.. I was being very picky as it is something I want to keep for a LONG time!

It is a 1998 black classic sport edition with the C8.25 rear end.. and only 139k miles.. and a Np231 Transfer case.. Completely stock and rust free..

You’d be surprised how hard it is to find one that met all those requirements!! And I paid the same amount I sold mine for!

Here it is…

First xj Build, long arm-uploadfromtaptalk1375800355083.jpg

After it sitting a couple weeks I finally had the time to get started on it! Luckily my good friend works at a Porsche/Jag dealership and he has free rein at the shop on Saturdays! So we got to have at it in there!! Soooo nice to work with a lift and air tools and air conditioning for once!!

The first weekend we had high expectations… but seeing how neither of us had done this before and we got a late start due to the previous nights endeavors.. we only got as far as the SYE install.. lol

The next weekend we brought it back, late again… and we got the back end completely done!

Yes I drove it home like that… lol

Then the next weekend they had an event at the dealership so I couldn’t get anything done there so I decided to just have at it in my garage…

So far I have the springs in.. shocks in.. extended brake lines in.. stock control arms off.. and stock cross member out.. all that is left really is mounting up the Serious Off-road cross member and the longarms.. and it’s done! Aside from taking it somewhere to get the gears installed and it aligned..

QUESTION.. the stock cross member came off and there was one stud and one bolt on each side holding it in place.. however, the new cross member is supposed to be mounted up initially with 4 allen head bolts.. how do I accomplish this if one of the mounting location has a stud in it?? Any suggestions..??

Thanks guys.. sorry again for being absent so long..

Edit: Idk if the pics worked.. I made the post using tapatalk.. I'll check it when I get home.
