dude first off posting multiple threads about the exact same thing dosent help. it sounds like u got a good idea of what u want to do. like i previously suggested check out the fab section and lookk at other peoples builds. there are plenty of build threads in there. that will give u some ideas as to what u like and what u dont like.u can also see what materials people are using. anything is doable as long as u have the time and tools

well duh the motors probably shot. thats what the noise is. wear and tear. and work on getting a job before you plan out all this

shawnmf 01-23-2010 09:49 PM

the ticking could most likely be something with oil or the pump or..

guest03 01-23-2010 09:51 PM

also look underneath it at the rocker panels and the floor. also the U body (subframe) look at. these are the main areas that tend to rot out and are undetected. if cracked, rotted, or anything else then that has to be the number one priority before any build.

i got a job.actually i have two so im fine with jobs.and i dont no if its shot.but its not the oil or the pump or anything.but if its shot ma dad said he will help me do the fab of a 350.so it will be bad *****.

meaning if your oil pump fails completely your engine will be dead.

ckysodkorn_xj 01-23-2010 10:09 PM

before you go pouring money into lifts and tires and aftermarket anything i'd spend my money on getting that knocking motor fixed. yes what he means is a ticking time bomb meaningits going to die. and most likley not in your front yard. so put your build plans off and get that fixed or if your dad will help you switch in a 350 go for it. it most likley wont last as long as a nother 4.0 (witch will bolt right up)

well thanks for bringing that up cause that was aanother question i had.if you run a fuel injected engine out of gas is it true you can start it again?

can or can't?

there's no reason you can't unless you fry the fuel pump from it running without any gas in the tank
