Consulting the 94 to 96 parts manual shows front studs for the front steering skid plate are m8x1.25

Pick some up

The studs went in okay. I reamed the bolt holes with the tap and die just to make sure that they were clear of any debris. I found a lot of times when I'm putting something on that is a factory part that wasn't there before that there's either rust, paint, or grease buildup in the hole that needs to be cleaned out for the bolt to go in smooth. Once the holes were reamed out it was easy enough to thread the stud in from the bottom. I will say that these nuts that came with the studs are joke as they barely fit. I ended up having to hold the stud with a vise grip while I put the nut and lock washer on the top.

I went ahead and sanded and hit the factory front skid with a coat of gloss black. Got it all mounted up and I must say it looks pretty good

Slowly starting the process of sanding and priming each piece. I am probably going to start by painting the hood and front clip to make sure that it's what I want and that I've got the process down. Eventually this entire Jeep will be Rust-Oleum deep gloss blue

Jeep to the rescue once again! I got home from work today and the wife said I had to install the TV straps because my son is now big enough that he can touch the TV. The kit that we were gifted at his baby shower included M8 bolts for the TV but of course there are quarter inch too short to reach the threads in the back of the TV. Luckily I had pulled a pair of M8 bolts off of a Cherokee a while ago and just have them lying in my toolbox. Problem solved.

I've found that when picking a new color its better to paint the cowl first. That way you can drive around with it for a while and decide whether you actually like the color. I've done this with every rattle can green I could find already, thats how I know I don't want to paint it green again.

Rustoleum Gloss Deep Blue. I'll be sanding all the pieces with 400 grit from now on. The 220 I sanded this piece with left marks.

I like the blue. Looks good. Can't wait to see the progress. My very first car that I got for $500, I actually rolled on a gallon of Rustoleum glossy white and it turned out decent. I spent a week everyday wet sanding until it was smooth to the touch then rolled it on. Then the engine died a week later, before I got a chance to wet sand and polish it. I feel that for an older SUV there's nothing wrong with a rattle can paint job especially if you take your time, prep is always key.

Blue is also my favorite color lol

Its been pouring rain all week so I haven't got anywhere with it this week. Did manage to get my T-case drop kit installed.

So I'm officially unhappy with these. When I order them for $48 I expected to be a little bit more resistant to warping and they have already started to curl. I will be probably replacing them with thick sheets of Kydex trimmed to look like mud flaps so that I know they will remain stiff.

First coat of blue on the front is almost completed.

Looks good are you planning to paint entire Jeep that color? I was contemplating painting mine some crazy Lime Green color or Midnight blue. I know two way different color schemes but I like how Jeeps can go with some off the wall crazy colors and look badass! You don't see that on any other vehicles except maybe Toyotas.

Yeah my goal is to have it completely repaint it by the end of the week but I need to drop my front axle and put some spacers in my coils first. Add a minimum I'm going to get everything sanded and primed this week so I can just work on rattle canning as I go

I lucked out this week and a local-ish dude was selling 95% 31's. Hoping to get them mounted

Installed the Teraflex 2 Inch spacers above my coils. Finally, my front end is starting to look level and those 31s aren't bad either

Started working on my custom front bumper brackets. These are 6 x 6 x 1.5 inch steel blocks. What I will end up doing is welding pieces of a square tube in between them to add structural support and as a location to weld in a 2 inch receiver hitch for what I'm hoping in the future will be a removable winch point. Turns out my front bull bar is actually aluminum so my plan to weld that on directly is not going to work, but that's fine it can just be bolt on so I can easily remove it if I need to.
