Default Cookie's 99 XJ 2DR Build (lots of pics)

I bought this 99 2DR XJ 7 months ago from a Mexican named Angel. It had a really smashed up drivers rear quarter panel and lovely black accents. This with the combination of years of Cheereo's and Doritos shoved in the back seat from his children made it the perfect little project.

Before I bought this Jeep for a nice price of $1500 I had never owned one before. I've owned tons of VW's but never a Jeep, one I blame all you Jeepers for not telling me how much fun these things are.

The first thing I did when I got the XJ (which I have comically named Cher) was clean that nasty interior.

A month later I took on the task of replacing the rear quarter panel, which is in the Technical write up section if you need to know how to do it.

I plan on painting my XJ with truck bed liner, I'm not talking about just the bottom half I mean the whole thing.

Before I do it though I decided to paint the door jams because lets face it, a black Jeep with white door jams would look pretty dumb when you open the doors.

New tires in the back too.

I've also replaced the following on the vehicle.

Upper and lower ball joints

Tie Rod and Tie rod ends

Drag Link

Steering stabilizer

Track bar bushing

Sway bar bushings

Brakes: I mean everything shoes, pads, rotors, drums, springs and wheel cylinders

I also put on a Rough Country 3" lift. Which I now have death wobble (yay!). Those of you who might ask about my death wobble its not just a vibration I sharded my pants at 60 miles an our on the highway, I never knew a car could be so violent.

Painting the exterior is on hold until I get the wobble fixed. Which will hopefully be this weekend.

Yea not taking the doors off this is a daily driver... I did have to remove the drivers door to replace the hinges because my doors sag like crazy.

I was throwing around the idea of removing the door skin and making and covering the doors with canvas like a wrangler but I think I'll wait on that... I don't think anyones done that yet I imagine it would look really sweet though.

I saw the how to on that... I wonder if the doors sag after its done... I think it would be worth while taking the external hinges off of a CJ TJ ect. from the junk yard and making those work. That would be sweet.

Those door jams look real good! What kind of bedliner are you using? I've simply used the walmart spray can bedliner for the rockers and fenders of my jeep.

I did the door jams with black rustoleum primer. I'm gonna use herculiner bedliner for the outside.

Pictures of the bedliner coating. Now that my Jeep resembles a piece of coarse sandpaper I've decided to rename it "80 Grit".
