Well, the pump is finally off. It's been one of those lots of cursing and alcohol days. Hopefully I can extract the 4 broken bolts tomorrow.

That's scary with an aluminum block.
Hoping that works for me.

Damn man, nice find!
I know the feeling of scrubbing and scrubbing for hours. I too had all kinds of tree junk on the exterior of mine, but with a wash, some Bleche-Whit and another wash, the paint looks brand new.
I hope i see thins thing sometime. A diesel XJ... crazy.

Yea no problem. Give me some time, I've been fighting theae broken bolts for a couple days now.
Heat with a MAP gas torch and hose them down with PB Blaster. Give it a couple of whacks with a hammer and try to get them to turn.
I suppose that it depends on how much time you have. It has taken me a month to get the cylinders off of an old Kawasaki 2 stroke .....
You could use the old water pump as a drill guide to drill the bolts out and insert Helicoils, or my favorite Timeserts. You could be done in a couple of hours.
Good luck,
Doug
