Man as soon as I seen the timing belt I had a feeling this would end bad, I hope there's no bent valves. I had a diesel BMW I had to fix the injector pump on I had all the pulleys clamped and marked but something moved and no body could figure it out even after I bought the tool. Also had a tdi jetta drop a belt bending valves. I feel your pain diesels are very finicky .

There's nothing broken. I cannot picture the starter having enough power to damage anything. It only cranked for like 2 seconds. No crazy noises. It's not like it was running and threw the belt. I'm going to pull the valve cover Monday and have a look. It would probably bring good money running anyway.

such an interesting turn of events for you.
Sorry about the guy that backed out though.
Remember, if you need an extra wrench, let me know. Ive been asking people if they might want one but when i say "Renault" they say "Heck No"

I think FATE is telling you to keep it by not letting you sell it...
I totally get the frustration thing. I did a hemi swap into my Ram 1500 that has been giving me fits for months. Tell myself over and over to just sell the stupid thing and get a new truck.
If you sell it, you will regret it the rest of your life. To have a Jeep that rare is a seriously lucky find. Now you just have to have the patience and do the research to allow you to work on it. You will be an expert after you are done, and you will be the better for it.
Heck, if I could figure out how to get it to KC I'd consider buying it off you. But honestly, I think all of us here want to see you keep it.
Have faith in yourself!

On top of this paperweight I have a built LS1 Camaro, that I've had for 13 years, sitting here not running, needing time and money also. I have to take an iron out of the fire. If you're interested, I'm pretty sure you can get it shipped out there for around $400.

Everyone will be glad to know the diesel Jeep has been sold to a board member!
I'll be sad to see it go, but at least I'll still have internet visitation rights.

CobraMarty and I are getting it. I'm hoping to use it as a more fuel efficient daily driver. The 11.5-13.5 mpg mixed that my lifted supercharged XJ gets is getting old with how much driving I do lol. And my dad's lifted stock engine XJ gets exactly the same mpg. *sigh*
I'd be happy with like 26mpg from this thing. Any better than that will be awesome.
I'm definitely going to post a ton of pictures of it since it's such a cool rare thing.
