We were going to work on the Jeep yesterday, but went to an auction instead. The auction had a 1996 two door Cherokee. I did not but the Cherokee, but I scored big. The owner had just bought a lift and other extras. I bought a new in the boxes,
Rough Country 3" coils, control arms,
drop steering arm,
add a leaves,
and lift shackles.
He also had a set of new JK pull off shocks,
a new in the box 3" lift nitro shocks,
a set of Rancho 5000 shocks, and steering stabilizer.
A set of Skyjacker shocks and steering stabilizer.
New in the box 40 V Flowmaster mufler
2 sets of wheel spacers
a worn out set of 31s on aluminum Jeep wheels
A new XJ grill
A new XJ header panel
I bought the whole lot for $220.00
These pics are kinda funky and I'm not sure why.

I forgot until I looked at the pics.
I also got all new extra bushings for the control arms
a new flex fan
a tac, that I don't know what I'll do with
and new bracket for when I build my back bumper

Here is the best part.
I sold the wheel spacers for $50
The Flowmaster for $40
The tires for $100

This puts me in at $30 for the new lift and all of the extras.

We changed the shocks and shackles Sunday. It was a PITA. The shackle bolts took a while to get out, but we worked them until they came out. Of coarse the shock bolts broke off as soon as we touched them. The adjustable shackles raised it 2" in the back. It has another hole to go to 3". I will see how it looks after the front is on. We are going to install the front on Saturday. "If things go as planned." It actually rides better with the nitro shocks than it did before we raised it. I am not going to use the AAL. I will use the shackles until I replace the springs someday.
My driveway slopes so it is hard to see in the picks, but I think it will look good when all of the lift is done.

My next purchase will probably be some 15x8 wheels with a 3.75 backspace. I hope to run the 30/9.50/15s for a while, but I will see how they look. When I do replace them, I will probably go with 31s.

Pulled it in this morning and started on the front.

Installed new springs, control arms, and nitro shocks.

We replaced all of the hoses from the radiator to the heater core and replaced the heater valve.

Put all of the lift on and a new steering stabilizer. I went and drove it about 40 miles. It rides better now with the new shocks then it did before.

The plate on the front is just welded on as a temp. We hope to start building the bumper over the next couple of weeks, but I have knee replacement surgery on the 6th. It may be sitting for a while after that. I hope not to long. I think I am going to buy some 15x8 wheels while I am down, so that I have something to look forward to when I can walk again.

I have not been able to play with the XJ for a bit. I had knee surgery and that slowed things down. Today is the first time I have had a chance to work on it. I did a cut and fold on the rear this morning. I think it turned out pretty good for my first time.

Was in the process of building a bumper, when a guy sold me his. His XJ caught on fire, so he did not need it anymore. I also put a new Pioneer radio in it. Other then that, I have just been driving the heck out of it. I put almost 700 miles on it last month.
