great build so far... anxious to see how it all turns out
good rule of thumb is to double the cubic inches... the 4.2 is a 258ci... so you'd want at least a 500 cfm carb to get the most power... as far as holley, I prefer edelbrock, but to each his own... you could always try to hunt for a quadrajet from the JY, but I don't know if that is adaptable to a 4.2 manifold or how it would perform - if it worked though, it would be awesome... you could pick one up from almost any pre-EFI GM v8 vehicle and then pickup a rebuild kit from anywhere for pretty cheap

I thought people just put whatever on there
I did an ambulance ride-along today for the International Eelpout Festival. Boy was that fun! I got a pretty good portion of the EMS experience in about 14 hours. I might just go back tomorrow! But for now,

haha.... well, you could always go for the engineer and volunteer.... best of both worlds... if you wind up finding out that there's more excitement that you just gotta have, you can change your career... the earlier you do it, the better
just don't forget to weigh in the risk involved... lots of diseases out there, ambulances running hot are not immune to being involved in traffic crashes, and if you're fighting fire, well... let's just say there's a lot of risk involved there... but there's risk in going outside every morning... just make sure you get a lot of different perspectives before you dive into a career that puts your life on the line

I don't think I'd even accept payment for being a first responder. Overstatement, I am 18 and mostly broke
. But seriously, I love being out there. Even if there are already a few others there.
Yesterday I messed with my stereo's frequency filters. No more bass coming out of my doors and hatch and no more highs and mids going to the amp! I love it. Next on the list is to get my sub box built. I'm thinking 1-1.75 cubic feet for my 10. It already hits pretty hard for 300w in a tiny box so I am pretty anxious about the results.

I got bored today. Project time!

I'll get it wired soon enough, MN's winter is finally living up to its reputation. We're supposedly getting about a foot of snow tomorrow night

So I got ambitious today in shop class and started on my sub box. I now have a 4'x4'x3/4" chunk of MDF board
I'll try to take pictures of this project.

Ah, side projects! We have a student teacher who uses a mason jar for water. We originally called it his moonshine. Sand blaster says white lightning

I properly burped my engine today. No more overheating idles
I'm also up at my Dad's house for the weekend. I made the 160 mile trek on a 1/4 tank of gas
On the downside my cork VC gasket has failed. It's spraying oil like an arterial laceration
Only on the passenger side though and all of the bolts are tight. I snugged them up this morning while the engine was still hot but no dice. So I'll be replacing it with a rubber one.
