what kind of axles are you running? and you should consider long arms if doing 4.5". you'll break stuff if you have stock axles and gearing and control arms. if you are just getting into this stuff, I recommend a rubicon express 3.5" lift and 31s. 33s possibly depending on what axles and gearing you have

After reading this, I feel the need to interject.

You just got it. What you should be doing to your "bone stock" ride, is getting it into top mechanical shape. Do all fluid changes, tune up, replace belt and hoses, make sure steering/suspension/brakes/driveline is good to go...deal with any wiring issues, etc...

Start with a solid base. Then figure out what you want your rig to do. What kind of wheeling will it see? Build accordingly. Start with armor and recovery first...then move on to your lift, tires, gears and lockers, shocks, SYE, and then concentrate on power/engine upgrades...

It all adds up quickly...what you're talking about doing, I have done most of it...it's taken me YEARS. It has taken effort. And, it has taken $$$.

Just one guy's advice.

First off, a 1990 is a renix era jeep. you are not going to find a procharger kit specific for the 87-90 4.0L that i know of.

Second, if it runs and drives fine LEAVE THE ENGINE ALONE!

Third, it will never be fast, it is a 4.0L inline six. If you want fast sell it and buy something with a V8, that you can from the sounds of it ruin.

Fourth, do you know what all is needed to install 35's and have them perform to their ability? a 4.5" lift is too short without cutting. You also have to take into account either upgrading axles or swapping them out for stronger units. i am sure your jeep has the D30/D35 combo with 3.55 gears if an auto and 3.07 if manual. None of which are very good at all for 35's, you need 4.56 to 4.88 gears or higher(numerically). You sound like a squirrel whom has seen something shiny and wants it one second then see's another shiny object and then subsequently wants that one now.

I'll second this.

My $500 Jeep was going to be a fun little DD project. $2000 in parts later and I'm finally done with restoring it to road ready.

OP, from my readings on CF: run it, wheel it, break it, upgrade/fix it. You'd be surprised what our stock girls can do. Seems like you want to Black Diamond when you haven't hit the kiddie/bunny trails yet.

Yup. Doesn't do any good to drive a lifted Jeep with a bone-dry transfer case cuz you never bothered to check it.......

Suprised you got that much out of such a seasoned/experienced member.

It's requested that you use proper punctuation, please. Even the guys from France and Spain who request help can manage English with appropriate punctuation.

The answer you'll probably get is to search the forum. There are many answers to all your questions as they're common questions. Arm yourself with knowledge available here and no one can take that from you. You should check my first thread. It's a train wreck. Years later, I'm trying to return all the good karma from receiving so much help on this board.

I'm honestly surprised to see you even got in on this Cruiser. I gave up after he asked what he was able to "get rid of" under the hood... I don't think anyone is going to get through to the OP. It also hurts to read his posts due to the lack of punctuation.
