I've been tracking down my intermittent blower motor failure lately. Of course I wait until winter has full on set in to do it but oh well. I decided why am I so great that I shouldn't make the same mistakes everyone else has? So I'm replacing parts that aren't broken including the below resistor pack that has a habit of failing or overheating and melting the harness/connector. You can see mine was a little deformed. Did I check with the multimeter? No! Multimeters don't help build credit card points. So new ones in and problems not solved.
Good news is I wiggled some wires by the blower motor and turns out that's my issue. Will likely wait until spring if I can keep it working by wiggling =]
Added a sound system, fully active with a small woofer. I've been getting more interested in electrical lately so this was a fun project. Also did the big 7 cable upgrade afterwards... bc I bought a winch woohoo!
Alright, it's day two of closed offices, public places, etc here in Boston so it's time to organize my thoughts and finally announce Phase THREE of the jeep build. Let's recap
Going with ARB front locker and truetrac in the rear (currently snagging a used arb locker and cover for $500 about 2k miles on it lmk if I'm getting screwed!)
4.10 gears
2. Fender Flares
Going to do bushwhacker or napier flat flares (what's the good word? Any preference out there?)
Rear Quarter Panel cut-n-fold (mostly since it's already rusted out but also for looks and future proofing when I buy flares/rear bumper it's already done)
3. Bigger Tires
Going from 31" to 33" keeping the 15" aluminum wheels
4. Steering Upgrade
Definitely looking for recommendations here! This will be figured out before the 33's go on . Road manners are priority
5. Winch and front Bumper install
I already have these just need to paint and install
Things I'm ignoring for now
My short arm lift
Shackle angle
Frame stiffeners
Always happy to have constructive criticism below planning on doing all the work myself per usual and as always thanks for following the build!

Long time coming I finally ordered a new pan. As you can see I found plenty of metal in the pan but not sure what that means exactly. I took a picture of the large chunks but there was plenty of silty stuff kinda caked to the the bottom of the pan too. I imagine it's been there for a while. What do you folks think? Realistically I'll be running this until it blows just curious which parts you think these pieces are from?
I couldn't really find any reliable info on which after market pans fit so I'll just leave the part number here for anyone who wants a decent pan for $40 Ultrapower - 264220.
Tired old girl
I decided this piece was optional. The jeep will understand.
9mm for scale. Let me know your guess on where these came from!
I wouldn't worry too much about what you found in the pan. When I did my rear main seal in the 4.0L I found similar material in my pan. I've driven 20K since and had no issues.

Hell yeah! Not too worried more curious. Sent blackstone a lil baggie of the good stuff so maybe they'll let me know what they think - in fact that's what I paid them to do so they better haha. Will update when I hear back
New tool day. I had been saving for a while but had to make the call between lockers/gears and the welder. Did I make the right call? Ultimately decided this was more important for me right now. Now to save up for the rear Truetrac, gears, and tools that will be next. Oh! And practice laying some beads!
Hobart Handler 140
I bought a 40lb full tank of Stargon bc I wanted my own tank
Harris .030
Rolled over 100k today! Probs doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment but this jeep was a few miles away from being a parts jeep when I picked it up 2 years ago. Nothin but good old hard work and dedication got her to this milestone so thanks to everyone on here who has helped me cheers!
Am I a fool or a genius? Just dragged this beauty home. 05 Passat TDI she got a manual swap, plenty of new parts including a stock cam shaft replacement and balance shaft delete in the BHW. I'm sure y'all can do the math here but it will be a bit of time before that project starts. For now we'll have some fun with this fine piece of German Engineering
It's been quite a month, just moved across the country to Denver area, got a pup, and finished getting all the parts for the 4.56 gear swap and locker install.
Let's start with the most important... the pup. She's the best.
The move... I have a driveway now and a small garage - WAY better than working on the street!
Gears/Locker...
Recap: Before Covid I had purchased a "lightly" used ARB and chromoly shafts for the HP D30. Lightly meaning about 10k miles and i'm fairly certain he blew up his gears. I just took it all apart and cleaned the unit as well as pulled bearings off etc. Harbor freight bearing puller barely fit. But they slid right off, likely because they haven't been on for 20 years like the 8.25, which was a different story. I ended up cutting off the cages so I could get a better bite on the 8.25 carrier bearings, this plus heat did the trick... Garage sale find Harbor Freight Press paying for itself too...
Currently working on the rear end and have the gear on the carrier, ready to locktite. I will have to shave a tooth or two to get the slide pin back in.. that's common for 8.25 gear swaps where you opt not to replace the carrier. The Pinion was a PITA to get out of the housing... idk what the deal was but I had to give her the ONIONS with my BFH. Clearly I wasn't interested in saving the threads...
Bonus pic of how the day started... back at it later today
