I got my gas tank skid plate installed last week finally. I didn't manage to get too many photos, but it was one of the hardest things I have done on the jeep even though it only entailed removing about 8 bolts from the trailer hitch and installing new hardware with the skid plate. I ended up having to cut the bolts off because they all seized. Then I had to take off the bumper (huge pain) to remove the bolts and get a wrench inside the unibody frame to tighten down the new bolts.

Trailer hitch removed:

Started removing the bumper:

Crappy Cell pic of the skid plate before installing it(I will get some better ones of it mounted when I have a chance):

And I also had a chance to drive the jeep on a 150 mile trip to Estes Park up in Rocky Mountain national forest this weekend and it did great. Fun trip even though I couldn't do any wheeling with all the snow up there. Overall a good camping/hiking trip- although very cold sleeping on snow haha.

Next to come:
-Drop Pitman Arm
-Hocky pucks for bumpstops
-Adjustable UCA's
-Wheeling hopefully soon?

I should definitely be thanking you for serving- I am excited to be graduating the AF academy soon though and getting out there in the operational AF. I would be glad to pm you the info for the guy who makes the Sliders if you want. They were a great deal at about $250. I picked them up from the guy who fabs them up in denver, but I know that he makes them and ships them out through ebay and paypal. They are very sturdy and one of the few that are designed to work with RE long arms. If I could weld, I would probably replace the rockers instead, but thats quite a bit more work.

I had the change to go wheeling yesterday on my birthday with some people over on cojeeps.net on china wall. I had a blast. The jeep still needs a few things finished up, but it did great out there. Here are some pictures:

Definately need longer brake lines and shocks:

And here are some videos of my rig:

Sweet man, I am coming out to Australia in the end of June for a vacation, I've always wanted to come out there my dad grew up there and loved it.

Here is an update on my Jeep for you all.

I was out traveling all around Poland over spring break , so I haven't done much with the jeep. I did see some xj's out there and now I want to get some European style rear brake lights like these. What do you guys think?

Also here is what I got done today:

-I followed the directions here and did an alignment on the jeep myself.

-I bought some Dodge Ram Van Brake lines because the CAD brackets give my jeep a lot more droop and in the picture below, the brake lines would snap If I went any further. The ones I got are about 7 inches longer and were only about $30 for both. (for anyone wondering, I got 97 dodge ram van brake lines and I had to get two lines from the same side, because one side had two openings on the top rather than one)

-I also bought 8 hockey pucks from a used sport store for about $1 a piece to extend my bump stop landing pads in the front.

-I Measured out the lift height again using the "dirty method" (from axle tube to unibody), and I still have about 5.5" in the front and rear so thats good the springs haven't settled at all. for some reason though the passenger rear height was only about 5" though.

I plan on wheeling Sunday, so tomorrow I will install all this junk, adjust my track bar and hopefully get some pictures up.

-I got my 97 dodge ram van brake lines installed last weekend. They work out perfect and are about 6" longer than the ones I had on.

-Also installed some hockey pucks to extend the bumpstop landings in the front. Still rubs against those stupid bushwackers though. I need to add one more to each side I think.

-I also got to go wheeling up Eagle Rock this past weekend and the jeep did great. We picked up like 250 lbs of trash first and then did the run. Some of the guys were running 40" tires, but with my lockers I was doing everything they did, and with more style haha. I have a few pictures of the cleanup and a video of the trail here you go-

Skip to 4:30 on the video to see my xj:

I live in Colorado Springs too. I just bought my 94' Cherokee and my dad has a 93' Geo Tracker that we've done A LOT of mods to. We are looking for some people to do some crawlin and back country exploring with. We're originaly from Woodland Park and Rainbow falls was our only place to go when we had time. We want to find new places to go so when you guys want we will surely go along.

Definitely man let me know I trying to get out on the trails as much as possible before leaving Colorado in the end of May.

....

And here are the updates. I am trying to get everything all finished up so my jeep is ready for MOAB in the end of May . I can't wait.

-I just bought some Rough Country Adjustable UCA's to dial in the correct caster/pinion angle and get rid of the dang vibrations in the front drive shaft.

-I also am planning on getting some new steering. I think I am going to install it myself just to save money and maybe replace my ball joints.

-I also installed some bike carrier mounts on my roof rack- pretty sweet I can hold 3 bikes on it now, which worked out well for mountain biking last week.

I will post pictures of everything soon, and document it all as I install it.

Here are some pictures I finally got off my camera of everything I have done recently .

I modified my roof rack to carry bikes thanks to the help of 96_xj explaining how he did it. Really sturdy, simple, and cost effective solution bought everything I needed for ~$50.

My gas skid plate installed/been put to good use: (never put up a picture of it before)

Here is my 97 dodge ram van new brake lines installed.

And I washed her today for the first time in months. What do you all think of the light covers? I never liked the KC lettering so I just spray painted them black.

Other news:

-My UCA's come in the mail tommorow, so I will install them Saturday. Hopefully that means no more vibes in the front

-I bought a new steering setup from Serious Offroad Products (FrankZ our local Cherokee genius) because they have the 1 ton TRE's, and a similar design to the company I was going to go with (JCR offroad) after deciding they had the best design for my what I need. Frank's have thicker tubing and better price though. I should get that next week and install it myself asap. ....Jordy is this your jeep? nice.

-I checked out my ball joints and they look like crap. So I think I am going to replace them with Moog ball joints when I do the steering, because I have to remove the knuckles anyways to have them reamed for 1 ton TREs. Man I can't wait to have steering that doesn't make me scared for my life anytime I drive on the freeway.
