Here is an update on my progress so far with the crawlbox and d300:
Today I spent the whole day working on the dana 300 and getting it ready to go in my jeep. It is in very decent condition so rather than rebuild it I decided to just put new seals on the input shaft, output shafts and double seal the shift rails.
Here is the case before I did anything to it:
First thing I did was remove the yokes. I am going to swap in two rear 231 yokes in place of the dana 300 yokes, in order to be able to use a cv style driveshaft. Here is a comparison of the two:
Then I went through and pulled all the seals:
Next in order to use my NW Fab cable shifters I had to cut off the shifter mounts. It took forever, because I was using a cutoff wheel, which I later learned from a guy working at the shop they should never be used on alluminum because the disk tends to blow up...oops

Next it went to the parts cleaner and got it all cleaned out.
I forgot to mention I also drilled and tapped a hole in the top of part of the case and screwed in a barbed fitting to attach a site tube. I will connect a clear tube between the new fitting installed and the the old breather which is now on the bottom due to flipping the case. This will allow me to see the level of the fluid and will probably be the way I will fill up the case if need be.
You can see it in the bottom of this picture:
Here is the Klune all cleaned also:
Here is the front view of the case all cleaned up. You can kind of tell I also resealed the two aluminum parts that bond to the case with rtv.
Here is a picture of the way mine will look when I am done with it and have the cable shifters installed so you can understand what it will look like. Just for reference though (NOT MY CASE):

I installed most of the new seals, but tommorow, I will finish the last input seal and get the case to where it is ready to be swapped into the jeep. Should be easy, the only problem is I have to figure out how to keep the back side of the shift rails from leaking. I will figure something out though, maybe o-rings. Next weekend I should be installing the klune v, d300 and cable shifters into my jeep. Can't wait!

Well I just did some research and figured out why the back of the shift rails are leaking. The case is missing the shift rail end caps/thimble covers. I will be buying some of these and I should be good to go.

Looks good, I am jealous of the T/case set up! looks pretty bullet proof. the more and more time goes on I am thinking of doing a dual box setup. Keep up the good work!

I finished sealing up everything on the Dana 300 today. All the seals are pressed on and the sight tubes are on.
I still need to do a few things though including buying and pressing in the shift rod thimble caps, painting the case, and getting some new longer studs since the ones in the case are not long enough to thread through the klune and spacer.
I went ahead and mocked up the klune and Dana 300 to measure the change in location of the yokes. I compared it to a 231 i had laying around. The rear is 3 inches further back and the front is 2 inches further back.

Thanks man I can use all the motivation I can get.
I got a few things in the mail this week.
First of all I got my new double shifters from NW fab.

I plan to install my new dana 300 and klune this weekend and will be using these to shift the dana 300. I plan to put the shifters in place of the stock shifters. I could have fabed something up, but I am pretty busy nowadays so these cable shifters will save me a ton of time and will keep everything looking very clean. All the parts are extremely high quality.
I also got the fuel injector rebuild kit I ordered to rebuild my bosch 703 injectors:

I swapped out my 703 injectors for my stock ones to see if they may have been causing my fuel pressure problem back a couple months ago. Turned out it was my fuel pump. I never put my bosch injectors back in because I broke one of the pintle caps and figured I might as well rebuild them. So add that to the to do list.
Man I seriously can't wait to get my jeep back on the trails again. I have already had to turn down 3 people to go wheeling on 4 different occasions due to working on my junk and not trusting my transfer case to not break on the trail with the bad bearings and internal issues. Now that I have all the parts I plan to just power through and finish installing my dana 300/ crawlbox this weekend.
