A few more things knocked off the list. and a few more added... Updated the color scheme.
Green = DONE!
Yellow = I have the parts waiting to be worked on, right now this list is limited to the parts I'm going to install when I do the lift, I've done enough that as parts show up I'm literally just going out and putting them on the jeep, and they are going from blue to green.
Blue = parts ordered and shipped, waiting on delivery
white = Other, either I need parts/supplies or is just fluids but it is waiting on a lot of other stuff first
Orange = on hold for now, it won't stop me from hitting the trails, so it is getting pushed till a later date.

Ordered back on Aug 23. Not that I haven't had a ton to work on in the mean time, but the waiting is killing me.

my headlights went out after so much work to fix them, found out the old wire for the under hood light was flopping around and shorting out the fuse (only found out after I blew 3 $5 fuses...) Was a frustrating fix, but feels good to have it done:

and the list gets shorter, a few more things knocked off my list. I'll be doing rear brakes next.

Knocked a few things off my list, and added a bunch more. I swear the more I work on it, the more I find that needs to be done. At what point should I have bought a much nicer one? but would a nicer one have been that much nicer? at least the weather is cooler. probably soon to be added: power steering lines, fuel lines, water pump... but I may just pay somebody to do those...

One thing I found, I wasn't going to swap out the head unit, but I found this:
https://amzn.to/35GfJw5

It's a single Din Head unit with a screen and a backup camera. That would sure be nice. put it on top of the hitch, make hooking up my tiny trailer or backing up on narrow trails easier.

Bought the head unit I linked to earlier, so started installing it today. Only got part way done because we have family Halloween stuff tonight, but should be finished up tomorrow. Excited to have a backup camera on the jeep.

My wiring job vs what was there:

So, went to hook up the new radio after wiring everything... and no back up camera, Started troubleshooting, so step one had the wife stand behind the jeep and look at the reverse lights to see if they were working and... nope. So I get to replace the NSS. Yay. I would just clean it, but it looks BAD, so not going to mess with it, just a new one.

Did you remove the NSS to look? If so, how hard was it to remove? It's on my to-do list, just low priority since it still passes inspection, but I've been wondering if I should order the removal tool.

I haven't removed this one, just looked at it from under the jeep. it is CAKED in oil and dirt, and the vent tube is broken, so I am guessing it is just full of gunk. I have removed one on my previous XJ. but my experience is not fair. I live in Arizona, so rust is not really a thing so much here for the most part. A screw driver on either side and it just popped off. With how caked in oil this one is, I'm guessing it's not too rusty either, as it has been protected from the elements.

Thanks for the info. I haven't really looked too well at mine but I'm sure it's got a nice layer of oil like the rest of my underside.

If it helps at all, from what I remember the hardest part was getting the stinking zip ties cut to pull it out, otherwise pretty easy processes if it comes free easily.
